About Swordbreaker: Back to The Castle

An adventurer pulled out a roll of paper from under his garments. That was the map that a man in the tavern gave him. The map depicted the castle, and among its rooms, the path to the treasury was marked. They say that the treasury contains a lot of jewels and gold, but the most valuable of them is a diamond. They also say that it is the largest diamond in Dorgan, and maybe even in the entire world! Someone even said that for this precious stone one can buy a small castle, and for the rest of the money — be fairly well-to-do until the end of their days. It was these stories that led the hero to the mysterious castle. You may ask, who is this adventurer? They call him Swordbreaker!

The story of the game tells about the adventures of the Swordbreaker, full of blood and mystery, before his appearance at the mysterious castle. The hero has to go through many trials before he finds what he came for, that is, if the luck is on his side.
Swordbreaker will have to destroy hordes of enemies and solve a lot of puzzles to make his way to the castle. Upgrade Swordbreaker’s skills, find unique weapons and armor. And most importantly — move toward your goal!

- Dynamic battles in the vast areas of Dorgan
- Mysterious locations full of enemies and secrets
- Character upgrade system
- RPG elements — change weapons, armor, and spells
- Dynamic change of music depending on Swordbreaker’s karma
- Survival mode

So I finally got around to playing this one after Origins and the first game. I enjoyed them all, though I will admit that none will compare to the first one. One thing I can say about all three titles is that the sound score is really, really good. I think your sound guy deserves a lot more credit. Well done. As for gameplay, I found the combat pretty clunky. And the boar enemies? I hate them. But that's more of a nitpick. I'd seen the trailers and such so I knew what I was getting into before I bought it. Once I got a feel for it and leveled up a few times things got easier. (I was playing on adventurer difficulty.) As for other issues, I can't really be hard on the game about it. It cost me £3 to buy. I'm not expecting something that was under development for years and years by a multi-million dollar triple A developer with oodles of polish. It struck me more as a labour of love for a piece of work made into a game. Whatever the case may be, I enjoyed it. If I didn't I certainly wouldn't have finished it. I don't know what's planned now that origins is out there, but if I were to say anything it's that I'd like it to continue in much the same way. Thanks for the game.

I'm recommending this game not because it was perfect (it's not). But I had a fun time playing it. I found myself wanting to hop back into the game for "a few more minutes" just to take on a few more mobs and explore a little of bit more of the map. PROs *The game is short, maybe only 5-7 hours if you power through *It rewards exploration. There are potions and gold hidden in the far-flung reaches of the map. *Some choice (not a lot). The bosses of most levels are actually optional. You can choose to avoid them, but doing so means you miss out some stuff. *The music and sound effects are surprisingly good. *It was inexensive CONs *The textures get to be very samey after awhile, as do the mobs. *There's a lot of clipping and as a result it's possible to end up in some hard to get out of places. *Combat is ridiculously difficult when the camera chooses to fight against you. A target lock option feature would have been useful. To be staring at an enemy, try to cast fireball, and watch it seemingly streak out my butt and into oblivion was frustrating (but also unintentionally humorous) Overall, I could have rated this game either way. But upon reflection decided that I enjoyed pla…

Not worthwhile, run. Movement is awful, most of the time you'll be striking at air as you fight the clumsy controls to just face your enemy but end facing in any other direction striking the empty aire like the dumbest of newbies while your are pummeled. Many cheaper games can deliver some fun, but this one makes you wince. Evidently they took more time programming hiding the health address, etc, than making the game minimally playable. And they never finished it. The title is about the castle (also they put 2 girls besides the hero in the title graphic that never appear, there is just two - 2 ! - briefest npc interactions in all the game). The stated hero purpose is to find treasure in the castle. One character lists the relevant places inside the castle. What for? You never get inside it as the credits roll before entering it, rather risible really.
