About T.I.M.E

T.I.M.E is a First-Person, Arena, Boomer Shooter that pits players against each other in a one-on-one contest. Players compete in a round-based first to 3 wins system that is balanced through time rewinding set by the round loser to balance the scales of skill against strategy.

Disclaimer

This game was a short-term project built over 4 months from scratch (Design, systems, art etc.) by 6 students learning their craft. We are proud of the experience created, and as is the nature of game development, we wish some things could be done differently, but that is life.
You may find minor bugs, issues, complaints and wish some things were done differently. But we respectfully ask you to try enjoy the unique experience crafted and take it for what it is. Thank you taking the time (heh heh heh) to play our game and even read this.

Gameplay

The gameplay consists of Online/Networked 1v1 lobbies. In a best-of-five format with one life per round, eliminate your opponent 3 times, you win!
However, once an opponent is beaten and the round ends, the loser gets to rewind to any point in time that has previously occurred, this is where the next round will start.

Enemy flanked you last round? Rewind so it doesn't happen next time.
Enemy picked up the weapon you were after? Rewind and set a trap for them.

Not everything is sided for the losing player though, if you win a round, you're one step closer to victory and you also get to choose what Power Weapon is in play.

The ultimate way to test pure skill, the removal of "I would have" or "I should have". Now you can, no more excuses!

Story

T.I.M.E is set in an oppressive alternate reality of a centralized totalitarian government that has failed to succeed in its Utopian plan. Their failure has fractured their diesel-guzzling and highly industrialized society. With no way back on track to their Utopian plan and infighting set in, the top brass have decided to buy themselves some time to make amends. Their solution clouded by idealism, smog, and desperation is to rewind time to a point where they can find out where it all went wrong. With the singular goal of trying to steer the future by correcting this point of divergence. Unfortunately, no one can agree on where things went wrong and who is responsible. This results in conflict among factions of the regime, causing deeper paradoxes, alternate timelines, and crippling confusion.

Thrust into the shoes of the upper echelons of the military superpower in their final days the player must deal with their opposition & their time loop. Rewind to alter the outcomes of the future and correct the past, learn from mistakes, and speculate on where this new altered future leads. Rewind until there is peace, rewind to save their Utopia!

Combat

Wield Diesel-fueled armaments against your former comrades to secure a future for your faction of the regime. Find and use powerups strategically, or brute force a win with a golden power weapon.

Rewind

Manipulate time at the end of each round, moving yourself into a better position for the next round. Create a paradox that generates new weapons and/or powerups in the combat that tip the scales to your advantage.

T.I.M.E had a lot of promise with its concept of fast-paced 1v1 shooting action but unfortunately it falls short on several fronts The game's potential is marred by a number of frustrating issues First and foremost, the game's mechanics feel clunky and unrefined The controls lack responsiveness, making aiming and shooting feel imprecise and frustrating In a 1v1 shooter where precision is crucial this is a significant drawback The gunplay which should be the core of the experience is instead plagued by erratic hit detection and inconsistent weapon performance The graphics and art style are also underwhelming While not necessarily a deal-breaker the visuals are generic and lack polish making the game feel visually dated and uninspired This is compounded by a lack of dynamic environments or engaging level design The maps are bland and offer little in the way of strategic variety, which detracts from the competitive nature of the game The matchmaking system leaves much to be desired It’s supposed to pair players of similar skill levels, but in practice it often results in lopsided matches that are either too easy or impossibly difficult. This imbalance can make the game frustrating and…

This was a really fun shooter to play with mates. The concept was really cool with it being really well put together.

Excellent game. Perhaps amongst the greatest I've ever played. This game ranks alongside Halo CE, Quake 3 and CounterStrike as one of the most ground breaking competitive first-person shooters ever created. Particularly innovative is the ability to hold two weapons at once in your inventory. I look forward to the sequel.
