TimeShift is one of those PS3-era shooters that didn’t quite get the recognition it deserved, but still sticks in my memory for how fun its core idea is. I played it back on PS3, and revisiting it on Steam really reminded me how creative its time manipulation mechanics actually are. The standout feature is obviously the time control system. Slowing, stopping, and reversing time during firefights still feels great, especially when you start combining it with environmental destruction and smart positioning. It turns standard shooter encounters into something more tactical and chaotic in a really satisfying way. Combat overall is solid old-school FPS fun. Weapons feel punchy, encounters are frequent, and there’s a good variety of situations that keep things moving. It doesn’t try to be overly complex, it just focuses on giving you tools to mess with time and letting you experiment. The campaign has a decent flow too, with a mix of linear action sequences and moments where the time mechanics are used in clever puzzle-like ways. Some sections genuinely stand out when everything clicks and you’re freezing bullets mid-air or rewinding a failed encounter to try a different approac…3 found this helpful
5 Stars for the game, 1 Star to Activision and Steam... To make the game work you need to download a patch from external site, unrelated to Steam or actrivision. Should i have bought this game from GoG, since they have the patched version already?1 found this helpful
The game is great! Too bad this port is awful. Can't even get the game to load.1 found this helpful
Broken and you need to fix it. Your call if you want to play a forgotten late 2000s time based game. Honestly Not worth it to me. Due to the "sale" is always 50% off of a 20 dollar game that is about 20 years old. This game is forgotten and as such I will get it on used market. They just have to send steam the updated version. Its not a Mod to get it working, it is an update! That being said, GoG has the update. So I got to say looks like GoG went out of their way to get a working game, while Steam did nothing. Here is a guide on how to get it working, stolen from the community hub. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=326627023
Good short game, but expensive
I wish they never got that extra year of development and released the first version of the game. Also 5 quid sale price for a mediocre 20 year old game is abhorrent And its literally crashes on start up without downloading fixes And i hate Activision
