About Tankenstein

Fight!

Fight through a wasteland filled with rogue AI tanks that seek your destruction. Use clever strategies to destroy them before they destroy you, then lay claim to their parts to build the ultimate vehicle of destruction.
Featuring an in depth damage and projectile system, you will be rewarded for precise shooting and learning your opponents weak spots.

Loot!

Trawl the wasteland for the scrap of the old world, and fight through hazardous environments to find the tools you need to survive and give yourself an edge in every battle.Mix and match increasingly powerful gear scavenged from the wasteland to build a Franken-tank of looted parts. Separately upgrade your CPU by cannibalising the mind of your opponents to gain the ultimate edge in the final survival of the fittest.

Explore!

The wasteland is a procedurally generated world of devastated environments. Each new biome provides a unique challenge for your vehicle. Master each to maintain the strategic advantage at all times.

Fight difficult bosses that challenge your build and tactics to become the dominant AI in the wasteland.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the game's roguelike tank concept and find it engaging and strategic, with satisfying progression mechanics. However, the game is criticized for balance issues and difficulty spikes, particularly frustrating save systems that force players through boss fights, and some suspect unfair enemy behavior. Technical complaints include controller remapping issues on Steam Deck, while fans suggest adding endless mode as requested endgame content.

So simple, yet so much fun. Collect parts, shoot tanks, steal their parts. Repeat until you have the tank of your dreams. Or are killed by the tank of your nightmares.

I'm not sure if tanks spawn in randomly or if some of them cant be detected sometimes. I will have nothing within 600 meters from me, I will destroy the closest tank and then 2 or 3 tanks appear within 300 meters seconds later The grind is slow for upgrades and the other tanks can wreck you very easily in early areas, even if you are upgraded to tier 2 or 3 from the permanent upgrade system. I died in 2 shots with full armor for my hull. I hit the enemy tank 5 times in the same spot without them going down in the 3 tier zone.

Great game, but I'm starting to get pissed off with the saves. I've gotten up to T3/T4 three seperate times now, and each time I've extracted and then come back later to play, it crashed while loading and I've been forced to restart. Other than that, love it. Edit: Hate to be a crybaby, but just suffered a catastrophic bug - every single enemy on the map made a beeline for me, even the boss. I lost everything after reaching T4, please try and fix this.

I enjoyed the pretty straight forward gameplay. Pretty short learning curve. It is on the slower pace of things but if you appreciate tanks you understand why its slower paced. If you dive headfirst into a battle and get surrounded, you'll pretty much get pounded. A slower tactical playstyle goes a long way in the early game when gear is under-leveled. There is an overall upgrade system which I enjoy. Make it so I don't have to scrounge for mid gear every run and once fully upgraded you'd start out as strong as possible. Re-playability is there for sure. Making it in my rotation of rougelites for sure
