Great game! It's more challenging than I initially thought, and that's a good thing! I've played many runs, but I still discover new tricks each time that help me go farther. The gameplay is simple but interesting. It reminds me a little of Fidel Dungeon Rescue (one of my favorite puzzle roguelike games) I'm really loving ito far!1 found this helpful
8.5/10 Minimalistic TBS/roguelike TLDR: A deep and addictive minimalistic TBS. The low downloads I can explain only by the casual gfx style. If you don't hate mobile out of principle, this game is certainly worth a download! Good: + free (and no in-apps!) + the gameplay here is in keeping up your HP and shield stats while moving around on a hex board where random enemies and collectibles appear. Despite the seeming simplicity, there is a definite puzzle-like feel here together with minimalistic strategizing. Depth comes from character upgrades that you can choose, 1 out of 3 each time. It's definitely addictive. Reminds Hoplite the most probably, though it's clearly different So-so: +/- gfx are in casual style, hinting that the game was made for mobile first (?) yet the monetization was cut out from the Steam version entirely. Well, yeah, with the relatively simple gameplay, mobile might have been a good choice as the main platform to target. Yet, had this game been in some more hardcore-friendly setting (like, dunno, robots, aliens, even WW2 or fantasy), it would have far more appeal to hardcore gamers. The fact that it only has 8 reviews after almost 1 year on Steam feels like…
Temple Crawler is what looks like an app store reject, it's a simple cartoony "roguelike" game where you swipe your finger around on your iPhone screen to pretend you're playing a real game. The quality here is really quite low. The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is no…
This is a 3/5 from me. Fully functioning, simple and no detected bugs => good. Very monotonous for the time i played it => bad. But it works.
