✦ AI summary
Players praise Tezzel for its clever puzzle design with innovative mechanics that build progressively throughout its 100 levels, complemented by charming presentation inspired by Gaudí's mosaics and a satisfying 1910 Barcelona setting. However, the game lives up to its "Difficult" tag with later puzzles that demand significant mental effort, making it challenging for casual players despite its approachable early levels and the ability to skip ahead to other puzzles if stuck.
I like the idea! Wouldn't have bought the game because of the Difficult tag, but gladly checked out a review copy. It has some effort put into the presentation and setting, which is always nice. The puzzles seem neat, with mechanics I haven't seen before personally. But that tag is there for a reason... So uh, this game is sort of out of my league. But I still got the impression that it deserves more attention. Bonus points for seeking out a no-genAI capsule artist after having "concerns" about their first one. And for offering a Linux build! 15:16 Tezzel is super fun. Thought it'd be a chill little tile puzzler but it's got way more bite than I expected. Starts easy, then some of the later tiles really make you sit there and think. That's my favourite part - I like a puzzle game that is a challenge. The whole setup is fun too, you're an old tilemaker in 1910 Barcelona trying to rebuild your rep, and watching the wall fill in tile by tile is oddly satisfying. I've done most of the levels now and still keep coming back. When one puzzle stumps me you can go do another and come back to it later. Super fun overall!!1 found this helpful
Beautiful puzzler with genuinely clever solutions and interesting mechanics
Puzzle difficulty: ★★★★☆ Not recommended to colorblind people due to lack of accessibility options Don't let the 'difficult' tag scare you away. Yes, the puzzles do get quite hard, but they are not mind-bendingly difficult. Identify which pieces should end up where, and the execution will come naturally if you focus, experiment a bit and put in some brainpower. Each level is a 9x9 grid, making every puzzle a manageable size you can relatively easily overview, and usually you have just enough leeway so that you don't feel too constrained. Most solutions are really clever and feels great to get just right. Every 10 levels you unlock a new mechanic to play with, and they combine with previous mechanics to make challenging and fun interactions. There is some sokoban, but it is just one mechanic out of many, not the core idea. The art direction is excellent, the level selection menu is a wall made out of beautiful pixel art tiles you have to fill by completing levels, you get rewarded with 1 tile each level, making the progression a satisfying task. Awesome puzzle game.
Super fun, starts out easy but some of the puzzles area real headscratches! Just got through the first few dozen tiles and really enjoying this!
Tezzel is a fun puzzle game with smart and challenging levels. The simple mechanics, retro 8-bit style, and progressive difficulty make it very satisfying to play!! If you enjoy puzzle games, i'll definitely recommend it!!
Good game, quite hard
