About The Bedtime Story
It's late, and you are fast asleep. As you adjust in the night, you can't shake the feeling something is wrong.
Bleakly, as you wake up and squint your eyes, you not only realize your teddy bear is missing, but something seems to be writing on the chalkboard...
Play as a young child who must venture and trial through the boogeyman's games to retrieve their lost comfort. Roam an eerie house that evolves as the "games" progress, with multiple frightening events and mechanics to ensure a challenging night terror. With each passing bell the game progressively alters, not only intensifying the efforts of the boogeyman and limiting your resources, but drains your courage as you seek your frightened bear. Do you have what it takes to find your teddy?
Features:
- interactive, evolving environment
- sound based events
- dark and eerie

A Bedtime Story is an unpolished and nondescript survival horror. It has been over 2-years since its original release date in February 27 of 2017, yet the game contains no update history and no related news about it. It seems developer Brandon Serowski has abandoned this game and decided to reap in a small cash grab of $2.99 every so often. Regardless, this game is plagued with an uninteresting story, poorly optimized procedurally generated items, and technical bugs and glitches. Serowski's A Bedtime Story features a simple story with no narrative behind it. You play a misfortunate little boy who awakens confused at 3:00AM because he cannot find his precious teddy bear. As he shakes his eyes to see where it must have fallen, he notices there is something written on his chalkboard. Let's play Tag. It seems an eerie spirit wants to play a game, and the in order to survive, we must stay in the light. Beyond this, there is no characterization, no lore behind the demon, no background story to the child, the house, or his family, and seemingly no motive. This game features a procedurally generated map and items, and zero save points. This means every time you start a new …21 found this helpful
In The Bedtime Story, you play as a misfortunate kid who has awoke in the middle of the night and noticed that their teddy bear has gone missing; and that there is strange, eerie writing on the chalkboard in their bedroom. It seems as though some entity wishes to play a series of games with you, and if you complete them you are able to get your teddy back. If you lose, you are consumed by the darkness. The goal of the game here is to stay in the light at all times; whether by actually standing near a light source or by keeping your flashlight on. The flashlight does run out of power fairly quickly, though it's rechargeable so you never run out of batteries. Though you can find and use batteries to extend the life of the flashlight, and you can also pick up lamps to throw down when there's no available light source and you're out of battery juice. If you stay in the darkness for too long, a phantom ends up coming to eat your soul. Survive this ghost's three games, and you win. Each time you play through The Bedtime Story's short 20-30 minute campaign, the layout of the house changes. If you end up dying to the ghost, you have to start back from the very beginning of the game. You …5 found this helpful
Short, intense and scary! A game you must play all alone in a dark room.3 found this helpful
The Bedtime Story, developed by Brandon Serowski and published by Volens Nolens Games, is a compact but unsettling survival-horror experience that taps into one of the most primal forms of fear: being a child alone in the dark with something lurking just out of sight. Rather than relying on elaborate lore or complex systems, the game builds its tension around a single night in a house that feels both familiar and strangely hostile. You play as a young child who wakes to discover their teddy bear missing, a seemingly innocent premise that quickly unravels into a nightmare as the home’s layout begins twisting, sounds echo through the walls, and an unseen presence stalks the hallways. The simplicity of the scenario is what gives it power—the game wants to place the player directly into the uncertainty and vulnerability of childhood. From the moment you begin exploring the house, The Bedtime Story is driven by atmosphere, especially through its use of sound. Creaking floors, distant footsteps, shifting whispers, and sudden thumps are more than ambient noise—they are your primary tools for survival. The enemy roaming the house is unpredictable, and the game makes it clear that listenin…2 found this helpful
Sadly whilst has a decent atmosphere I can't recommend this game. Tha aim of the game didn't feel very clear. After rereading the games description I got the impression the aim (other than not get trapped by chairs or cushions and caught by the boogie) is to find Teddy, though that still doesn't appear to be the objective, instead its to play a series on games that appear on the chalkboard. That left me just meandering around the house, dying repeatedly, until somehow I eventualy randomly won the first game apparently. Main gameplay revolves around searching the house in the dark with a pathetic torch, and a similarly useless single use lamp, while avoiding getting caught by the boogie man. Sometimes finding a battery or key to open locked doors. The house is essentially pitch black with a lightning storm as the excuse for no lights working and what lamps do work only flickering and always turning off just as you try to shelter in their millimetre wide cone of light. There's a few candles dotted around which have the same fault of extremely limited ability to cast light and always going out as you cower next to them. If you think the torch will help you are wrong. It's battery la…2 found this helpful
