T.F.A.N.C.S releases yet another game, and while I might have waited for this one to go on sale before buying, it still was worth my time. I'm not a diehard fan of this style of gameplay, and indeed, I would even say I usually avoid it. Metroidvanias are just not my cup of tea. But, as the lights dimmed, and the midnight hour of poor choices was rolling up, I bought this game on a whim to support the developer, and was determined to get my money's worth. In terms of metroidvania, the gameplay itself is passable. Over the course of the four-ish hours of gameplay the campaign offers, I frequently found myself nipping back to old areas to pick up an upgrade that was now accessable- as well as laughing at a few that I'd managed to finagle with pure skill and tenacity in place of the proper tool. Getting 100% of the upgrades wasn't that teeth-pulling. While there's no tracker, the map does show what areas you've explored, so by making sure most of the walls, floors, and ceilings had been mapped, I found the remaining stragglers- and a few ways out of the map (though there's little interesting to find out there.) In terms of difficulty, Hard is good, there's also customizably, laug…1 found this helpful
I actually liked the level of challenge and evolving combat. I played it though on HARD for my first run, and i thoroughly enjoyed being beat over and over by the tech boss to be greeted by a soft-looking h-scene for the game over. I suggest for folks like me who enjoy classic-style games like this, and I will ALWAYS buy every game from T.F.A.N.C.S. --Thank you for another fun game :)1 found this helpful
Game need more content and at least more game overs for different creatures espesialy bosses
i jacked off lol
3/5 I am 100% sure that someone who enjoys Hollow Knight will enjoy the gameplay of this more than I did. I for one got lost and bored with Hollow Knight. The big issue with game in contrast is... not the lack of key framing in the animations. Far from it. Key framing is the best part about the enemies' animations... but animations need MORE than just key frames. Add more in-between frames for a smoother overall animation and above all else CLARITY of when the enemy ACTUALLY is about to swing and PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEASE make it a visually discernable if the attack the enemy is winding up for is a 1, 2 or 3-hit attack. I finished this game out of sheer gamer pride, not because I was having fun. And I'm not touching that last Achievement until these issues have ben ironed out. I am not a completionist, I can wait. As for the NSFW... I'm kinda biased since I've been a fan of TFANCS for many, many years. What I CAN say is that it's very nice to see such great improvements compared to where they used to be. Heck, normally I frown at genitals this disproportionately large, but with TFANCS' style it just... works.
A decent foundation, but a lot of work still needs to be done, though knowing these devs theyll get there eventually. I'm only past the first boss and theres some decent platforming and stuff even super early on, but combat feels very rigid and the first boss is pretty bad, insta-turns around on you if you try to dodge its spammed attack instead of parrying it so the fight is literally just 2 straight minutes of *swing swing parry, swing swing parry*, and the parry does not feel very good mechanically rn. Game definitely has some promise and i hope they eventually take inspiration from other side scrolling h-games and add in game sprited scenes but i get that's a lot of work
