About The Fox's Way Home

Dancing fox shrine maiden! A slightly sexy Apparition Find game

The game is very simple!
First, watch the dance performed by the Fox Shrine Maiden carefully and memorize it well.
Be sure not to get distracted by her sexy allure and miss any part of the dance.

How to Play

To return to your original world, you must witness all the rituals performed by the Fox Shrine Maiden.Sometimes, apparitions called “Mononoke” will try to deceive you by taking on a form very similar to the Fox Shrine Maiden and tempt you.Stay strong, watch the rituals carefully, and don’t get enchanted by the seductive fox dance, so you can spot the “mononoke”!
One! If you believe it is my real self, call upon my name! Two! If you think it to be an impostor, see through the deception at once!Know that if you err in either, the ritual fails immediately! If your accusation is correct, the 'Mononoke' will be banished, and the lantern will light up.Light all 8 lanterns to return to the world you came from!

Apparition Encyclopedia

The various forms of the “Mononoke” you have exposed can be recorded in an encyclopedia.Repeat the rituals and create your very own captivating “Apparition Encyclopedia”!

This is one of the Exit 8-inspired games. One of those, where instead of turning around and leaving, you're supposed to point out the change. To be more detailed - Fox Girl shows you her ritual dance and then it's repeated 8 times and each time, you have to figure out if it's her or an impostor (that has some change in looks or behavior). Character model is good. The dance is nice. Voicework is pleasant. So, why can't I recommend it? 2 reasons: 1) Game's unique take on the fomula becomes tiring the longer you play, as some changes require you to watch whole dance, so if it's not something obvious, that you can catch immediately, you're stuck watching for next 40 seconds or so. It doesn't sound like much, but you're going to do it 300 more times, because 2) Changes/anomalies are completely random* and are not removed from RNG pool. Meaning, even when you know what to look for, you can still be stuck for hours waiting for specific change/anomaly to occur. For me, some of the anomalies did not occur until 6th hour of play. These 2 reasons gradually sucked out any fun I had playing the game. *game has 2 modes, 1 is limited to most "common" anomalies, so technically speaking, some ra…

While the price is a bit much for what it is, I still think it's a genuinely nice memory/spot the difference game. Cute fox waifu that dances for you. I only wish that there was a gallery where it would be possible to mix and match the different apparitions.

Every loss is a victory with this cute fox miko! Highly recommended if you get it on discount.

not worth the price an "exit 8" type game with innovative concept that involves watching the very same unskippable 2-minute long animation over and over again. the anime, and especially the fox girl is cute and great, but I can definitely feel my saneness deteriorating as I sit in my dark apartment room with my monitor being the only source of light. But that's okay, after approximately 12 hours of scrutinising and 2 mental breakdowns. I managed to achieve the final ending without checking guides, and I am proud of myself being an "exit 8" type game with numerous(65) 'anomalies': cons: most of them being blender shapekey/texture/model changes. I often had to rely on luck to encounter the remaining 'apparitions' I was actively hunting, and that was partially torture pros: none. most of the 'anomalies' feel sloppy. - But, in the encyclopedia, each entry comes with a passage and fully expressive voice covering--- 65 additional lines in total. I won't pretend it's not pleasant going through it and listening to 内田真礼's best impression of a typical tsundere shrine fox miko. still, not worth the price though. unless it's on sale.
