This was a really charming short RPG game based around anthropomorphic Cats and Dogs with a branching story line depending on your dialog options! It's based around a theme of Cats vs Dogs as you the player are a feline officer. I went into the game to enjoy the art, but mainly played it for the achievements. Which are not difficult at all! The only complaint I had was the battle mechanics. I kept dying over and over, especially in the fight sequence with Snert. I'm pretty good at brute forcing my way through though so for every play-through I did I just kept going at it. The only thing that didn't make me rage quit from dying so much was the fact that the game saves right before battles, so when you die and reload you start right at the beginning of the battle! Other than that small nit pick with the clunky shooter parts I really liked this game. The artstyle is absolutely beautiful, and so are the character designs! I thoroughly enjoyed 100%'ing this game.

"The Meowfficer" is a poorly made JRPG/RPG Maker looking (it was made with GameMaker Studio, hard to say if that's better or worse, but it's still crap) action adventure game where you control a cat in a cat police force and deal with problems caused by dogs (wow, racism allegory, so edgy). The cringey e-book text brackets very lame top down shooting sections, all of which are made badly and look like garbage. This was a failure on Steam Direct. The use of low-resolution, ugly pixelcrap here is dishonestly presented as a "deliberate artistic choice", but we all know it's because the developer wasn't capable of anything better. The result is a visually unappealing game, especially when compared to thousands of professionally developed games here. Whether the developer lacked the talent for modern visuals or the money to hire an artist is irrelevant. This choice significantly detracts from the game... gaming is a visual medium. Games like Undertale and Stardew Valley are incredibly rare exceptions that made it [i]in spite[/i] of the pixelcrap holding them back (imagine how much better they would be if the graphics didn't suck). So I first played this over on gx.games. I absolutely love this, and I love the storyline and art. It’s a bit akin to Stray, sad, and similar to Detroit Become Human in gameplay. All of those are similar in wanting to experience it for the first time again. Short but sweet, with a bunch of dialogue and a few achievements to discover. A genuinely amazing game, and all free. I highly recommend.

NEUTRAL review. Interesting game + concept inspired by real life issues (in certain countries). I didn't complete the game, so I'm not sure how the storyline goes. The first half of the story was entertaining enough, though the dialogue was a bit cheesy, slow and illogical at times. Characters are interesting, and there flavour text sprinkled throughout the world. Not a fan of the combat mechanics though, it's hard on the eyes. We also aren't able to change the game resolution, I had to hide my task bar to view the entire game screen. Also, "harsh language" or "profanity" should have been included in the "Mature Content Description".

I like it, kinda hoped it would be a bit longer though. Short and simple, it's good.
