Do NOT pick this as your first Metroidvania game, enemies are super hostile even from the very beginning, like how NES Metroidvania used to be. If you are a hardcore / old school Metroidvania player, sure, doesn't hurt to give it a try. (Kinda does, actually, it hurts my feelings.) My point still stands, do not pick this as your first Metroidvania game. ------------------------- There's your TLDR ------------------------- You have a "Hey Look Listen" boss acting as your guide. The main weapons you get are guns, with ammo count, there are better weapons, but they all still have ammo count. (Yes, there are ammo upgrades) Bunch of questionably designed enemies. Some layouts of the map are questionable too. I constantly find some places where I bonked my head and drop all the way down to the bottom. Oh yeah, there are some Rogue-Like elements in it too. If you died, you will have to go back to that same spot to kill your old self, to get some things back. The game will feel better once you get the "No-Knockback" and "'Attack Boost" Even better if you have the "Ultimate Weapon" (Not the actual name). But I'm pretty sure those are meant to be for the later half of the game, so g…

Decent game for a 1 day play. Felt like it tried some things that remind me of Super Metroid. Only thing that came off annoying is the knockback stun and falling off platforms so often as a result. Especially during the post final boss fight while rocks fall through platforms and seem to auto target you every time while you are attempting to reach the helicopter for finish the game.

Amazing! It caught me off guard how well designed this game is. A must play.

If you've played a lot of Metroid and Castlevania games, you'll be able to tell what inspired the creators of this game quite easily. Sometimes way too easily. In my short playthrough, I could point to a specific game (like SOTN from PS1 or Metroid from SNES) the particular screen or setup was influenced by. But what it doesn't take from the aforementioned games is the degree of care that went into the movement and level design. This feels horrendous to play. Moving around feels clunky and imprecise, and the level design makes the janky controls even more frustrating. It's chaotic and hectic in the worst possible way. Way too clunky for me to enjoy.

Played on SteamDeck while on vacation. I owned this game for years and finally decided to get around to playing it (I was on vacation and needed something to do while on the plane). While not a perfect Metroidvania, I ended up really enjoying this game. If the big thing keeping anyone away from playing this game is because of The Mummy (2017), despite being in the world of that movie, it's basically what-if Tom Cruise never showed up, so mileage may vary. My only gripes are my playtime didn't sync and no achievements popped unless I got lucky and was able to connect to wifi so it looks like I've basically not played the game. Smh. Flamethrower OP.
