This game is made for me: shmup like roguelite that’s firmly in cute ‘em up territory and has some interesting ideas on in-run and meta progression. But - my only access to Steam games is on my Deck and this game at this stage is a disaster on the device, including crashing the entire operating system. It’s early access so hopefully the devs can finesse some stuff to make it more Deck-friendly (more graphics options may help, for instance). So if you are hoping to play on Steam Deck, hold off. Otherwise, if you’re into twin stick roguelites maybe give this one a try. I wish there was a middle option but since there isn’t I’m gonna recommend it (with the aforementioned stipulations of course)

I don't usually play these kinds of crazy, top-down space shooters, and to be honest, I got my butt handed to me at the beginning. (Okay, it might have been longer than I will admit). The Odyssey of Commander Cookie is no joke – it's incredibly fast, chaotic, and will throw everything at you at once. But, I couldn't stop playing. I got hooked with unlocking new weapons and gadgets that genuinely change how you play. This creates an incredibly addictive loop of "just one more run" to earn enough for that next cool upgrade. There's a real sense of progress and empowerment when you finally build a ship that can survive the beautiful on-screen chaos. If you're new to this genre like me and looking for a challenge that feels tough but fair, and rewards you for sticking with it, you HAVE to check this game out.
