Whisker Squadron: Survivor

This one hurts, because it was a lot of fun before they tried to "flesh it out" and declare it released. When it was more bare-bones it was actually a much better game. The campaign story is kind of goofy, but whatever, you don't really pick these up for story. The flight mechanics got worse; less maneuverable, upping the difficulty substantially. Unlocking weapons and ships got gated behind "milestones" rather than simply accumulating enough points through successive runs, making it harder to progress and ensuring that your experience is going to feel pretty samey for awhile unless you're a very skilled player. They actually cut the number of levels available to you in a single run for no reason! I'll probably keep coming back to this one, since I'm already stuck with it, and it's still a way to kill like twenty-forty minutes, but I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone pay for this in its release state. It's not worth the money and it'll encourage the minds behind making your game worse for release.

It is ok, but after only a few runs I found myself wanting more variety, more options, more weapons, more ships, but its all surprisingly limited.

I play this game when I want to switch my brain off an blow stuff up to a nice soundtrack. The game is a bit of a slog until you upgrade your ship enough. After you beat the end boss a few times and know which upgrades are most effective, playing the game becomes far more relaxing.

Surprisingly fun. The more you play it the better it gets as you start getting accustomed to the in-run perks and better understand the choices presented and how will they affect your run. This choices given at random will affect how you will proceed through the run. All in all a fun game you can pick a have a few goes every now and then unless you really love on-rails shooters

It...was...disappointing. Is there fun to be had? Yes. But man the characters don't shut up and the levels are kinda bland. Would wait til deep discount for this.

Solid concept and solid game. I love rail shooters and this scratches that itch perfectly! Some runs are good, some runs are poor, but they are always fun. Worth the buy.
