About The Pit: Infinity

The Pit: Infinity is a cooperative rpg with first-person-shooter controls and roguelike permadeath. It is meant to be played solo, or cooperatively with up to three friends together.

Players will take on the role of a Marine, Scout or Engineer character and enter the Pit, a high-tech dungeon in which diabolical experiments are performed on life forms gathered from all over the galaxy.

Game Features:
  • Start as one of three unique Characters, each with different Attributes, Skills and Items!
  • Explore procedurally generated hallways, rooms and biomes!
  • Battle monsters and robots to gain experience and loot!
  • Open locked doors and rifle through alien treasure troves, seeking supplies, ammunition and gear!
  • Gain Levels to improve your Attributes and Skills!
  • Collect components and craft new items to improve your chances of survival!
  • Delve as deep into the Pit as you can, before you’re horribly killed! Each new floor becomes more challenging and progressively more difficult to beat.

This game was the most pathetic cash grab derived from a previously good game you will ever likely find on steam. The game was launched an unfinished and buggy mess, and so it remains. The game hasn't been updated since 2022, yet they felt comfortable having the gall to charge for DLC for a game that they hadn't even fixed. This should have never even left early access and the people who dumped this crap onto the shop should feel bad for the lack of pride they have in their work. Sword of the Stars: The Pit was an amazing game. This is a game that exists, much to the chagrin of many.

I will start with the big question: is Infinity as good as the original Pit? Overall, no, but Infinity offers a unique, beautiful first person perspective AND multiplayer. I love and play both games, even if I do love the original Pit more. The second big question you might have is why Infinity has so many negative reviews. Honestly, all I can say is I think that, more than anything else, Infinity is suffering from the original Pit's success. People come in from the original Pit and are disappointed that Infinity lacks the same level of polish. People also seem to have frankly absurd expectations. Believe it or not, it's a hell of a lot harder to make a 3D first person RPG/shooter dungeon crawler than it is to make a turn based pixel art game. Even in an ideal world where Kerberos could continue supporting this game for the same amount of time, Infinity could NEVER have achieved the same level of quality, depth, and attention to detail. But Infinity still shines with what it has, and it is a lot of fun. I always do several runs every October because of how fun the game is and how well they nailed the spooky vibes—and I've been doing this since the game launched in early access unde…

Fun solo or in coop

Basic short run FPS roguelike. Play couple hours a time. Die (a lot), restart. It is not dissimilar to the original The Pit. A lot of negative reviews on this for some reason, I'd say the game is nothing spectacular, but you get enough bang for your buck.
