The Roach Hotel

Incredibly bad horror game. The puzzles are dull and some events just make no sense. IE, a certain puzzle element being locked behind a grate that just randomly vanishes with no indication after doing something entirely unrelated. Dull horror game that I would not advise playing.

There are no commercial pesticide sprays. All you get is the gravity gun from Half-Life 2.

The Roach Hotel is a short horror game that takes place inside the Oxley Hotel, a place that is supposed to be a nice relaxing resort but clearly has something very wrong going on. I go there looking for my missing sister after she takes a job at the hotel and stops getting in touch. Pretty quickly the place starts feeling less like an abandoned building and more like something that is actively watching me. I spend most of my time exploring the halls, looking for clues and trying to work out what happened while dealing with the constant threat of the roaches and whatever else is hiding around the hotel. The atmosphere is probably the strongest part for me. The PS1 style graphics and VHS look give everything a dirty and uncomfortable feeling without needing really detailed visuals. The hotel itself is also designed well for this kind of horror because normal looking rooms can suddenly feel completely wrong once I notice something has changed. I like the way the game uses darkness too. The flashlight makes me feel like I need to keep looking around, and knowing there could be roaches or something worse just outside the part of the room I can see makes even simple exploration a littl…

there were some issues with audio being too loud or too quiet and it 100% wasnt scary enough, but i really liked it and just wish it was longer i cant wait to see the continuation of the story in chapter 2 and i cant complain anyways since this is free
