The Room

I had played this game a long time ago on a mobile version and I just really really like it. By far one of the best puzzle games out there, something about hidden desks and puzzle locked boxes just satisifies that itch in my brain. Pair that with the mysterious and vague lovecraftianesque backstory and you can see there's something special here. Game doesn't treat you like a dum dum and let's you try to figure out the puzzle by yourself without obnoxious overtly obviuos clues like highlighting an object with the shine of a thousand suns, it does have a clue section that drops hints after a period of no progress but it doesn't drop them outright onto the screen, you have to open it yourself, so you can ignore it until you genuinely feel stuck (or never open it). So yeah, if you like puzzles, mystery, convuluted mechanisms, impossible geometry, undescribable entities, and breaking free of the confines of space I would definitely recommend this game, and the whole saga for that matter.

Having recently replayed The Room 1-3, #1 still holds up. It's a short game, to be sure, but it's focussed, it's clever, and it's an excellent reminder of what games should be: a good idea done well. If you're stuck, there's a progressive hint system. On top of being a serviceable puzzle game, it's still very pretty, and the art and animations fit together to tickle that part of the monkey brain that likes watching thing click, whirr, and spin.

A great, short puzzle game to enjoy in an afternoon! It runs well on modern systems. Looking forward to playing the next entries in the series!

I did not know what to expect when I purchased this. My mind was absolutely blown. I played and absolutely loved a couple puzzle games when I was about thirteen or so, though I don't really remember their names anymore. This brought me back to a simpler, yet paradoxically complex past. It's difficult as an adult to enjoy things as much as you did when everything was new and exciting. This absolute gem achieves that by giving you intricate, incredible visuals and challenging puzzles that feel cohesive, make sense, and give you as much serotonin as your very first puzzle game did. It's not expensive at all for the experience it provides. In hindsight, I would've bought the collection bundle. I just wish it was longer.
