About The Sinking Forest - 沈んだ森 -
The forest whispers.
The village remembers.
And not everything wants you to leave. You play as a young man searching for his sister in a remote Japanese village surrounded by ruined temples, flooded passageways, and fog-covered paths. What begins as a simple family search slowly turns into a nightmare filled with tension, violence, and painful discoveries.Inspired by Japanese psychological survival horror, The Sinking Forest combines exploration, challenging puzzles, and survival combat with limited resources, where Japanese folklore becomes pure horror.Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game invites you to explore abandoned houses, shrines overgrown with weeds, and withered cherry trees. An oppressive atmosphere surrounds you, as haunting taiko drums and tense string compositions echo through the fog and follow your every step. The experience unfolds over approximately two hours and includes an autosave system to support your journey. This is a tragic story about family, loss, and the things that refuse to be forgotten.
What Steam players say

Players appreciate the game's atmospheric horror aesthetic and Asian-inspired setting as a brief, budget-friendly experience, with some finding it genuinely creepy despite its short length. However, common complaints center on technical issues including lag, confusing navigation with poor tutorials, graphic glitches, and audio that's often too loud, alongside forgettable music that doesn't match the developer's previous work.
Quick Summary 7.5/10 A Decent, afternoon horror game which has fatal frame atmosphere mixed with budget horror vibes. It's not the greatest, but for the price and a 1.5 hours. Why the hell not? I hope the dev keeps growing and increasing they're strengths cause I like where they're going. Graphics 7/10 The game has atmosphere I'll give it that. Assets flips in a few places like other games by the developer, but the overall feel of the game comes through. The Asian inspired village, the large forest and even a small apartment all stand decent enough. Sound/Music: 5/10 Really, nothing stood out. The music I couldn't remember a single track, which is a shame as his latest game Scarlet harvest had some pretty good vibes to it. The overall sound effects were nothing horrible and fit the overall game, along with the game using Japanese voice acting to pull you in more, nut nothing truly caught me here. Story: 7/10 You're a brother looking for his sister. Though due to a grammatical error at the very beginning it seemed confusing if it was a brother or a sister. You start by exploring her apartment, than quickly shoot off on a forest romp that leads you to a hidden village with a d…1 found this helpful
one of the worst game ive ever played .sorry not sorry but that game lag , worst introduction , no clue where to go ... sad , no help at the start...
A fun short stint of horror with an interesting enough premise! I will admit there are some graphical glitches here and there (Managed to launch myself into space with the umbrella in the village, put it on the ground and jump on it if you wanna meet god) Anyways, overall good narrative, good atmosphere! If I had to give any critique it would be to MAYBE tone down the sound overall it's overbearingly loud in some places and certain jumpscares may blow your eardrums out.
not bad , its on sell and id say worth the 2 dollars lol its not long but it did scare me.
a little glitchy but a funlittle indie game
The setting of the game is cool, but the game itself is very bad and full of bugs
