Yamigatari is about a 2 hour horror game where you have a creature, or ghost, or spirit (Won't spoil which ;) ) chasing you as you try to survive. Fully voice acted, creepy sound effects, fun puzzles, this is a charming little indie game worth picking up! A 7/10.1 found this helpful
Short, simple, and charming. I played for under 3 hours and got a couple of endings, though I did come away feeling like I had not actually done that much. Some puzzles took me longer than I would like to admit, while others were very easy to see coming, so the difficulty felt a bit uneven. The story is fine. Nothing groundbreaking. I did end up wanting a little more from it overall, but not in a “this wasted my time” way, more of like “oh, that’s it?”
Short and sweet. Explored many endings. Good mental character exploration
Overall I enjoyed this game. It is about a short 4 hour game that has dark undertones where the protagonist is trying to escape sinister forces in the forest. The voiced lines are great for those who prefer narrated stories. Also great for those who enjoy puzzles. The only complaint is that some events in the game require you to look at all objects even though you may deduce the answer to some puzzles or could bypass certain actions. Also there may not be as much deep lore for some horror fans but at the same time it might make the experience better for some. The biggest pro is that it works on the Steam deck without any issues, so a great indie game on the go. Disclosure: I received a free review copy of this product from https://www.keymailer.co
I was given the opportunity to play this on Keymailer and streamed it. Really neat game! I enjoyed the sound design a lot, but unfortunately the shack puzzle left me clueless and after exhausting all options on stream, I could not think of anything to do differently to solve it so I put it down. This is a me problem, though - there's clearly people who have gotten to the end of this game and they just made said puzzle easier, so, it's just me who doesn't get it and that's okay. You should check this out if you like retro-feeling horror experiences!
I very much appreciate the visuals, both the pixelart and the 2D portraits are great. I liked how Nora has a good amount of different poses and gestures and a blinking animation. Huge plus that the game is fully voiced! And it is really awesome! I cannot overstate how much I welcome this in these type of games. The puzzles are okay and thankfully not as obscure as they can get in some similar games. The overall focus is on the story vs the gameplay, which to me felt really nice. The visuals, the voice acting and the overall sound and vibe felt great. I got two endings. Both worth to explore. This is a very neat game that one can play through in one sitting, for me it took about 3-4 hours. I really enjoyed it. It absolutely delivered what I was expecting from a game like this.
