I recently bought the Serious Sam VR bundle on sale for £10.24. Included was The Talos Principle VR game. I am a 68 year old who, prior to my Quest 3 headset, had not been a “gamer”, so had not even played ANY Xbox etc. console games. I bought a PC laptop (the Acer Predator Helios 300 1TB SSD, Intel Core i7 11th gen, 16GB ram, GPU = Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, Windows 11, 2.40 GHz processor speed) in order to play Half Life Alyx and other PCVR games. Two days ago I fired up The Talos Principle VR game, and was absolutely amazed by how good it was! Other reviewers, of the bundle, have said that the price was worth it just for this brilliant puzzles based VR game… they are correct! It was released in 2017, so when I got stuck… I could consult one of the many YouTube play through videos to find the solution. I try not to do this, preferring to sit and ponder the possibilities before doing so. Yesterday I spent the best part of an hour on one puzzle, eventually working it out myself, which was REALLY satisfying. The graphics, music, in fact EVERYTHING about the game is really first rate. Amazing world filled with philosophy, mystery and contemplation that opened my eyes and touched my soul. Some puzzles also portrayed the importance and immense beauty in teamwork, through the use of machinery helping each other progress further. It was a lot of fun to stream to someone whom actually had the patience to properly watch me solve each puzzle without losing interest, and quietly too. I'm grateful to that rare individual. But even when I played alone, it was still interesting and enjoyable, especially when I was reaching the true ending. Some insanely complex puzzles were as astonishing and fun as they were painful, to solve. I'm honestly impressed at how they were even thought out and made. Highly recommend this puzzler. Looks really good and has a wide range of difficulty for the puzzles (and there are a lot of them). Sit down when it’s time to read the lore from the computer terminals, if you choose to read everything. There’s a lot! After finishing Talos, it also includes a DLC/ a second game called The Road To Gehenna. Harder puzzles there, but so worth it so far! Bought the publisher’s Serious Sam bundle that included Talos. Really good deal: this game only cost $2.50 when bundled with all five or so games. I’m at 44hrs and in the middle of Gehenna right now.
From the short time i've spent playing it, looks cool and is interesting to mess around with, bit exhausting to play for a long period however. But i wish to finish it when i have the time and mood to do so. I'd recommend also turning down the overall brightness before you start playing, otherwise it feels like someone is injecting bioluminescent plankton into your noggin to eat away at your neurons - considering how close the headset is to your eyes.
Great puzzle game for new comers to get over VR sickness. You get breaks between movement and you have the option to use both smooth locomotion and teleportation at the same time.
