About The Unwelcomed
You've spent the day lounging about your apartment, contemplating what else to watch on TV. As you gaze around the room, you remember that there was an official looking letter that came in the mail - perhaps you should open it and see what it is...
The Unwelcomed is an escape the room (EtR) type game created for VR and was inspired by such classics as Crimson Room. The Unwelcomed starts by inviting you to come to your late uncle's mansion to claim it as your own. Once you arrive, however, it's going to be hard to leave...
For Keyboard and Mouse users, the Keyboard binds are as follows:
E – Use/Interact: Any object that can open, such as doors, drawers, or lids are openable by targeting them with the crosshairs and pressing this button. Additionally, some objects require another object to work, such as grabbing the keys from the hanger and 'using' them while in contact with the door handle in the apartment.
Right Click – Pick Up Object: Any object that can be picked up, target with the crosshairs and hold the right click button to grab it.
Left Click – Fire Gun (If Found): After finding the gun, you can shoot pellets at things.
Mouse Wheel +/- While holding an object, scroll the mouse wheel to move it closer or further away from the player.
Alt – Rotate object with mouse: While holding an object, hold ALT and move the mouse to rotate the object in space in front of you in order to inspect it
F – Flashlight Toggle (If Found): Once you have picked up a flashlight in a room, it will be available to you. You can turn it on/off by pressing this key.
L.Shift - Crouch Toggle: You can crouch to reach lower spaces by pressing and holding Left Shift.
M – Open/Close Menu: This allows you to change game settings like volume and reset the room.

- Specs say it supports Linux - Specs say it supports VR - However it does not support both at the same time! Either VR or Linux! - Ok, at least Valve allows me to use Proton, the windows compatibility framework. I try a couple different versions of Proton with the game, always crashes when starting the tutorial. Note: I have more than 100 windows games which work perfectly in my VR (Valve Index) through Proton. - Also, it does not even support ultrawide aspect ratios? What the funk! - Uninstalled, refunded. - Game is now unwelcomed. Perfect name for it!8 found this helpful
Very hard to get past some rooms in this game. Many frustrating times but if you have a friend to trade back and forth with, you could probably complete the whole game in just a few hours. Amazing puzzles.2 found this helpful
I just finished the 7th room in this game. A few rooms are still left a bit unfinished and I thought the logic in a few puzzles could be easily improved. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.1 found this helpful
Man i tried hard to like this game, it has good graphics, decent voice acting, goodish story, good performance, and clever puzzles... The fact that the candles can be lit with another candle, AND that they consume with time is an amazing detail. But man is it a clunky and bumpy ride... it has some SERIOUS hitbox issues, like you open a drawer, or door or anything with a premade animation and if it crashes with your body, you get pushed back, sometimes you jump around and in vr its SUPER jarring. There is a "puzzle" where you have to cook something, but most of the items are on tables or barrels, so when you need to grab them you get pushed back and i had to stretch my arms so the "body" wouldnt get pushed back... Also, tons of hints are hidden between boxes and books, that i carelessly threw in the ground... well each time i went back and forth in the room and walked above any item, i got one of those, UP DOWN movement that just... are horrendous in vr. The Puzzles even if clever are frustrating because of how difficult its to actually manage the items, i did manage to get to the 3rd room (final one?) and solve a couple of the puzzles there... but In the end i couldnt take it,…1 found this helpful
The game is one huge bug. Many of the items just disappear when you try to put them somewhere - and then you have to start over. you can also cheat by sticking things through walls, and then getting other items to come out through the walls to you... The riddles does not makes sense in some cases - like the "put the books in order" riddle - here you have to do it the wrong way. Not very nice that the devs didn't make any research of how books are placed in order - and that makes you very frustrated, when you have to figure out what the developper thinks is the right way - and not what actually is the right way. Overall don't buy this game - it is a first gen vr game with LOTS of bugs and bad riddles...
this game has as many bugs and glitches in the code as it does bugs running across the floor. Fix the room with the dart board and the shelves. i cant even complete the room without it glitching out and i know how to do it. tried 3 times.. glitches every time..
