About The USB Stick Found in the Grass
It is a bit difficult to classify The USB Stick Found in the Grass as a game; it is more of a combination of a literary work and a forensic puzzle. If you liked A Normal Lost Phone or Her Story, you will probably like TUSFitG. You are given a virtual representation of a USB stick that was found at a scene of a possible crime and you play a police officer trying to solve a case with very limited information. You are not given any tools to do so, but you can use any tools you have on your computer. The USB Stick Found in the Grass is not subject to any intrinsic limitations on which the game is built. Quite the opposite: TUSFitG is as close to the real thing as possible. The USB drive you will be investigating is indistinguishable from a real one. The tools you will be using are real. If something looks like it can be checked, it can be checked. If something can't be checked, it wasn't our intention – it’s simply the result of a built-in technological limitation. Your job is to find what it is all about, if the stick is in any way related to what have happened and IF anything happened.

I like the idea of the game, having an actual drive get mounted that you have to explore to solve puzzles and such is really cool, but I just did not enjoy this. The goal of the game is to determine the passwords for zip files, even then, you expect those folders to have more lore or something of interest, well they don't. One of those folders has a single file with something like [spoiler]"add a dot to start of the next password"[/spoiler]. In the end, it is just not satisfying to make progress in this game. Also, the drive came with installers for software needed to open the old file formats, like, I don't want to have to install a bunch of crap. Could have at least provided portable apps. There were also weird torrent files for movies. Meh.4 found this helpful
Inspired experience. You're given a found thumb drive of 10-15 pictures and a diary, which you must use to piece together an event. It's open in a way that I think many would dislike, but I enjoyed what it was going for. There are also 3 zipped files you can open using some puzzle solving skills, though it's really an option Easter egg and I just looked them up for the achievements. Whoops2 found this helpful

Was annoying to get working on Linux, but once I had gotten that sorted, was an interested challenge, but a lot of just reading. Rating: 1/5
