"Does not love see beyond appearances?" This game was not even on my radar; I saw a friend purchased it on my Steam's activity feed. I loved how it looked, with its watercolor-ish visuals. Plus, it was discounted to 90% off. So, why not? It started off oh-so-slow-that-I-wanted-to-giveup, but the story picked up in the second half. I wished there was a button to speed up the movements, especially for a fast reader. + Absolutely adored the way the game looked + Loved the story and choices, especially the Carnival part. [spoiler](It was a glimmer of hope that bro finally had a chance at happiness, but alas!)[/spoiler] + Enjoyed the soundtrack + Loved the unapologetic ending - Some puzzles were too vague - OMG TOO SLOW It was good for a one-time playthrough for those curious about the story. I don't think I'd be back for another to get a different ending. My rating: 7/102 found this helpful
A tragic experience.
Perhaps the highest praise that I can give The Wanderer is that it is not a game that adapts Mary Shelley's masterpiece one to one, but rather a game that stays true to much of the spirit and tone of her work while also being transformative in a new and interesting way, suited to the strengths of video games as an interactive form of storytelling. Frankenstein is one of the most maligned and poorly represented works of literature in modern history, relegated to a position of cheap monster horror in our pop culture understanding of it. The Wanderer, thankfully, has none of these misrepresentations and rather takes an elegant approach to adapting Frankenstein for a game with moral choice. Shelley's work is not horror at all, but rather introspective tragedy - a story meant more to be an examination of the consequences of science and the meaning of being human more than it is intended to thrill. And this game delivers on those fronts. Both aesthetically and philosophically, I have a feeling Shelley would have appreciated much of what The Wanderer has to offer. This or the recent movie, both good, beautiful and descriptive of the original story. The game is not really a game, not really much to do besides advancing the story, but worth trying. Get your facts together about Frankenstein.

Looks nice, good music, however I didn't find the janky gameplay or puzzles interesting.
