"The Wire" is not to be confused with the popular television series, "The Wire", despite "borrowing" their trademarked name. No, this is much worse... it's basically a reflexes test, a little VR tech demo where you move a pointer through a little maze without touching the sides. I could make a joke there but I won't. As always, if the only cool thing about your tech demo is VR support, then your tech demo isn't cool at all. The most entertaining thing about this non-game is that they seriously tried to charge money for it! Now that is comical. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy" and looks bad as a result of their lack of interest in doing their job properly. Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $4 USD for this. Price barriers, especially…

Игра "The Wire" (если бы такая существовала) могла бы стать невероятно глубоким и реалистичным криминальным симулятором. Представьте себе, вы начинаете как обычный патрульный в Балтиморе, и постепенно пробиваетесь вверх по служебной лестнице, принимая моральные решения, влияющие на ход расследования. Или же, можно взглянуть на мир глазами торговца наркотиками, выстраивающего свою империю, балансируя между жестокостью и хитростью. Игра должна делать акцент на сложности взаимоотношений между персонажами, на политическом давлении и системной коррупции, демонстрируя серые зоны, где нет однозначно плохих или хороших. Механики могли бы включать систему наблюдения, прослушивания телефонных разговоров, допросы свидетелей и сложные тактические операции. Захватить реализм сериала - это ключ к успеху. При правильном подходе, "The Wire" могла бы стать одной из самых умных и захватывающих игр в жанре криминальной драмы.
