Tomb Raider V: Chronicles (2000) (2012)

The last Tomb Raider of the classic era. TRC is widely considered as a regular game at best, product of the impossible schedule of releasing a new game every year since the first one. I kind of disagree, this game is the shortest one and it doesn't really innovate a lot, but has for the most part very interesting setpieces. After the events of Last Revelations, this is a flashback game. Lara's old friends and his butler get together to remember four very different adventures of her past, each one having between 3 and 4 levels. The first one is in Rome, it includes a small tutorial area that can be skipped (although you will miss a secret and some items) and it features the return of Larson and Pierre from the original TR. The game is very ambigous in the timing of these events, could be a prequel to the first game, or not. Rome is classic Tomb Raider, a mix between the colisseum from TR1 and Venice from TR2. Next is probably the best set of levels, a russian military base and a submarine. eh, i'll say it isn't worth it. the game is surprisingly short, like a third the length of any other game at the very least. it is interesting though. it takes place after the 4th game as a group of people remembering their interactions they had with her. the story is different for each short story you play through so each one is kind of interesting. gameplay really doesn't change or add much other than changing how each level kind of works. they are a bit more like bite sized adventures with their own little challenge having different mechanics you might need to use as well as weapons and other things. since each story is it's own thing there is no carrying items over from one to the next so you start with whatever you are given. music is fine, i can't really say much for any of that. graphically, it still has the nice new look of better uv mapping and model work. but the biggest thing is lara's catsuit having an actual matcap on it now, so instead of being painted on shine, it actually has a sort of reflectiveness to it, so that is cool otherwise, i would agree with my friend. it is very..... existing, and it is a game that is playable. if you really want to pla…

Great game. Probably my favourite of the old 90s -03’ era tomb raider. The graphics are great. The characters and voice acting is engaging. Its level layout is still authentically tomb raider but far better at knowing how to get around. Optimized very well! Played on SteamDeck LCD. 4.5 / 5 ⭐️Excellent Game. A Classic.

Bad game that also runs like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Like the other PS1-era Tomb Raider games before it, it runs like ♥♥♥♥ and is borderline unplayable in this state on a modern PC.

absolute classic, just remember to switch the compatibility mode on the .exe to windows 98 and ur good to go
