I’m really struggling to put my thoughts together on this game, because while Toroom might seem to have a personality on its face, underneath the facade, it’s incredibly generic. Functional, but dull and clunky. Your character falls asleep and dreams of a “world of fantasy.” I use quotes because that’s not how I’d describe a standard roguelike grid of a contiguous dungeon consisting of functionally identical ice, grass, and desert biomes. I think it’s admirable that the designer wanted to make something more than a run-of-the-mill dungeon, but there’s not enough diversity or scale to make me buy into it being anything more than a game board. The gameplay is generic too. The enemies cluster at the center of the room, then make a beeline for you when you approach, so you have to circle around, attacking them until they’re all dead. There doesn’t seem to be much in the way of strategy, they just group together into this amorphous threat. There also isn’t any noticeable damage feedback, so improving on the room clears and boss fights is entirely on you checking your healthbar to see if that last attack hit, a very tedious way to improve your skills. I found the game to be play…

I have now played a few of this developer's games and I've started to notice a trend. Take a popular genre/game and do it very simple and boring with some absolutely baffling design decisions. Right off the bat, the default character is garbage. The default character is slow, has low mana, and starts with a melee weapon. All of this is terrible. This is a game much like Enter the Gungeon with a sorta twin-stick, bullet hell style to it. So being able to properly maneuver is important. The default character cannot do this. Their slow speed makes it hard to dodge all but the slowest of projectiles. Your best bet for being able to actually dodge them would be keeping your distance but you can't do that with melee weapons. The starting weapon has abysmal range to it. Basically requiring you to get right up in your enemies' faces. Which does not bode well when most enemies use projectile attacks. Even when you get better melee weapons it's just not enough. Enemies will overwhelm you with fast moving projectiles that are damn near impossible to dodge even with longer range melee weapons. And you can forget about taking out any of the bosses with melee weapons. Bosses will zip around the…

This game is just flat out boring

-Items do not have ANY description when you get them; you have no idea what the things do that you get -Minimal progression during the run -No 4k -Minimally small UX/UI -Cursor is essentially invisible due to miniscule size on 4k -In-game music = Disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the game for myself so I won't do it to you either.

First boss is quite difficult, the other two bosses are way easier, the rooms aren't very versatile, you just run around your enemies in circles, decent short roguelike game but it's short and not too great

I had fun for an hour but the only replay value is in the different characters which aren't really worth it. Good soundtrack. If its on a sale or in a bundle it's a fun hour.
