About Ultra Thunderball

WELCOME TO ULTRA THUNDERBALL
Defeat the evil geometrics with your trusty Gun-Bat and your ability to knock yourself into the air by hitting enemies.
Fly like an eagle or... rabbit?
You are confronted with waves of enemies which you have to defeat in order to advance. "How do I defeat these guys?" I hear you asking. Well, with our assortment of different Gun-Bats, you will shoot and slash your way to victory. The kicker is, every attack and shot from your Gunbat will not only send the enemy flying, but also yourself. Staying on the ground is dangerous, so try to stay in the air by using enemies, weapons and other junk flying around as boosters. Staying in the air has other benefits, but try to find them out by yourself.

Give them a taste of their own medicine
Almost all attacks can be sent back with a hit from your bat. And when the screen becomes a bullet hell, it's the only thing you want to do.

Volatile enemies
Almost everything can be used to attack enemies. Hitting an enemy into another one? Yeah.
Hitting your own bat into the enemy? Of course.
Shooting your grenade into a group of enemies with a well placed shot from the Action-Rifle? Absolutely.

"Ultra Thunderball" is a rather poorly concieved and even more poorly implemented 2D retro pixel "arcade" game. The big gimmick here is that you have a "gun bat" thing, that is to say you shoot, which also propels you, and you swing a bat around, making this a little Moon Lander-esque, but somehow worse. As always, just because an idea is mostly unique, it doesn't make it a good idea. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $2 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid produc…4 found this helpful
Ultra Thunderball is a little scoring game, with the idea of "you have a Gun-Bat, hit your enemies" And that's it. I can't tell you more than that. Because there is not a lot more. The graphics are not crazy, but everything is on one style so I can't complain. What bothers me the most is the gameplay. Everything is random, so you can have hard enemies on wave 1. There is no "progression" feeling, and some mecanics (shield) can totally ruin your game. Some projectiles can't be repel, some can, so maybe you can have the first level with a lot of "boring monsters", or a totally easy level. About the achievements, when you look at the high score, you have such a big gap between the first one and the others (from 12k to 123k) that it seems to have been cheated or find a bug. Most players are way under the 10k required so it feels a bit "high" for this level of game. Also, the trailer shows nice moves with the gun, you repel yourself from the ground.... well it is not as easy as it seems. There are some nice ideas, but a poor execution.1 found this helpful
