Umbra Galaxy is a 2D space shoot'em'up inspired by the old classics like Kobo and.. Kobo Deluxe? Yeah, that's about it. Anyways, you fly your spaceship, you shoot enemies, the enemies blow up! If the enemies hit you — you blow up. It's as simple as that! The only question now is what are you waiting for? Launch it up!

"Umbra Galaxy" is a rather small school project/tech demo tier ripoff of 1962's original video game, "SpaceWar!" This shooter isn't visually much better than the oscilloscope game it's ripping off, but it does have some gimmicks like "Tholian Web" style space barrier turret things you can shoot, and the odd boss fight as you're supposed to achieve the "obscure objective" or whatever that's supposed to mean. SteamDB shows that most gamers found this too obscure even for that. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs to pretend they're mobile phones. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. A great little space shooter. Worth the price.
Small challenge to beat it. Achievement : You can just destroy generators and it should give you all kills. Farm till 1th boss abort run repeat.
