Lazy Galaxy: Rebel Story, developed and published by Coldwild Games, is a charming yet challenging take on the shoot ’em up genre that manages to blend retro arcade sensibilities with modern roguelite progression. It’s a modestly scaled game that wears its inspirations on its sleeve but introduces enough unique elements to carve out its own personality. At its heart, it’s a story about rebellion and rediscovery, told through a mix of fast-paced bullet-hell combat and the quiet camaraderie between a small fleet of freedom fighters. The experience is deliberately concise, structured around quick, replayable runs rather than sprawling campaigns, but within that framework, it finds room for personality and a surprising amount of depth. You play as H-34-RT, a sentient robot who awakens aboard a derelict space station, haunted by fragmented memories of a galaxy consumed by war. The dominant alien force, known as the O’Xelg, has crushed civilization, leaving only scattered remnants of resistance. It's okay side scroller!

It's fun but there's not enough variety in the game to justify the amount of time it wants you put into it to get the "good ending".

Lazy Galaxy Rebel Story is weirdly structured, but once you figure it out you can start with 3 ships and advance to all the maps. I have about 5 hours on this great shmup including the demo. I think the structure holds this game back, and it's a shame. Controller support doesn't work. I just used my WASD buttons and my mouse for firing and special abilities.
