It’s a pretty decent game overall. It follows the typical child gets left behind and children start disappearing kind of story, so it’s nothing particularly new. What I liked though is that the game has a prologue, which was a nice way to start things off. The game has a really interesting vibe and I also liked the Russian setting. Overall it’s a solid horror game.1 found this helpful
If you're a fan of horror games, you'll immediately recognize what to expect just by looking at the visuals. The slightly grainy graphics perfectly complement the unsettling Soviet setting and create a strong atmosphere from the very beginning. You first play through a prologue, where you learn that someone is kidnapping young boys. The main story then puts you in control of a kid named Anton, who has just moved to this town with his parents. The controls are simple and stick to the standard first person formula. You can walk around, explore, and interact with objects. Nothing is highlighted with waypoints or visual markers, but when you get close enough and point the cursor at something important, it gains a white outline and displays an interaction prompt. Inspecting objects lets you examine them more closely, often revealing descriptions or additional information. If you find a document or another readable item, pressing the interaction button again opens the text in a clear, easy to read format. It's worth taking the time to read these because they add plenty of background details and flesh out the story. Not much of a game here. Just some walking around the same area, one tiny apartment, doing menial tasks and talking to a couple of characters. Then a brief stealth run and it's over in about 30 minutes. I appreciate them going for the creepy vibe, but there just wasn't a game here. Hope they get better.
If only I could have taken Baba Galya with me...
