Under the Disco Lights has an engaging bartending experience with appealing visuals, good music, and enjoyable character interactions that draw players in. However, the game is held back by frustrating mini-games (particularly the shaker mechanic), an inadequate tutorial system that forces players to restart or search online for answers, poor control customization, undisclosed AI usage, and difficulty balancing that feels punishing early on. Various UI and inventory bugs also detract from the experience, and the game may have launched from early access before being sufficiently polished.
Under the Disco Lights – 2.5/5 The game is decent overall and the story is just okay not bad, but nothing that really stands out. Where it struggles the most is in the mini-games. The shaker mini-game, in particular, is frustratingly difficult, and failing it feels punishing since you have to repeatedly press Q just to restart. That ends up breaking the flow and makes it more annoying than fun.5 found this helpful
1. hate that the game/devs never disclosed their use of ai until somebody else mentioned it 2. lacks a tutorial that helps also you can't look it up without restarting the game 3. never should've left early access 3. no key binds or lack of key binds that actually work (played on mouse/keyboard) 5. wanted to like this game game so badly and i am so disapointed2 found this helpful
I would recommend the game but they need to fix these: *beers are overlapping on a certain space inside the fridge (prolly bugged) *garnish trays are not enough to put all the garnishes you can buy *access of the liquor shelf is limited (nearly inaccessible) *depth of the tutorial of making a cocktail (somewhat punishing when you need to pay a certain amount every week) *difficulty of the ingredients on early game (on week one and/or week two it's too impossible to cater high end orders) *shaking mini (arrow pressing) should only trigger when the characters on the bar ask you to make their drinks or when a new drink is to introduce to the player (bartender) *the ICED cocktails need to SHAKE to make it (better to add a "MIXING GLASS" for ICED cocktails)
The game is good overall, but the instructions at the beginning are not very clear. For example, I had to search online how to make a margarita. With clearer guidance and a better tutorial, the experience would be much smoother. Other than that everything is on point
This is a review from being given a free Key to the game. I liked being able to mix the drinks and make custom orders for people and listen to their stories. It was really nice to see how the characters interacted with each other within their own conversations. The music choices were good, and the visuals were very clean. I will say there are a few nick picks. Point 1) I did accidentally speed thru the tutorial a little bit on the first night, so I did have some troubles until I restarted. If there was a way to bring the help cards again after viewing them, that would help a lot of people who struggle at the beginning. Point 2) Even though I did put it on easy so that there wouldn't be a drink timer, it did seem like I was getting punished for not fixing the drinks fast enough. At some points it looked like I wasn't getting paid for a drink, so I was really confused. Point 3) After the first night, the npcs kept asking for drinks I didn't have. I had to cancel quite a few orders because I didn't have a way to mix them. There should be either a system set up to where the npcs can't order anything you don't have, or a way for you to have every drink at the beginning, just on a smal…
