About Unknown Fate
Step into a surreal first-person mystery as amnesiac Richard, solving mind-bending puzzles and confronting bizarre creatures while questioning what's real as he desperately seeks his way back to reality. This story-driven adventure stands out with its reality-warping narrative, immersive eye-tracking mechanics, and full support for VR, PC, and multiple control schemes.
Set off on an amazing journey through Unknown Fate, a strongly story-driven first-person adventure with many puzzles to solve and enemies to beat. Become Richard, who suddenly passes seamlessly from the real world into a surreal universe. You’ll encounter strange characters, unfamiliar artifacts and scenes resembling Richard’s former life, of which he has lost all memory. Yet, he knows that this is not where he is supposed to be. The world he has come to inhabit is strange and distant. He feels the urge to find out more about this surreal universe and the creatures inhabiting it, in order to find a way out – out and back to his real self, his real life that he knows he has yet to fully recall.
Engulfed in mystery, you take cautious steps deep into the unknown, only to have your mind swept away by yet more questions, nibbling at your grasp of what you think is real and true – your certainties will start to crumble.
With no way back and a strong urge for answers beating in your temples, you push on, striving to get a grip on the odd difficulties surrounding you, eagerly awaiting the moment your mind will become untangled when the thread of your journey finally unravels all the way. But there is some way yet to go…
“Soon you will have all the answers to your questions. But you still have so much to see…”

This game is available for keyboard+mouse normal play, it is not a VR only game.
I wish there would be an informative or neutral review option. The game is not total garbage, but it is not something I would recommend. It is neither something I would „not recommend”. It has few ok platforming puzzle areas. Other parts are forgettable. Overall, I’ll still give a thumbs down for it, because the quality of the content is way too low for the asking price.
The Story
Let’s start with the worst part of the game. It is the story. Perhaps, it is just me, but it felt like the developers did not have a direct concept about the story. Perhaps, they had multiple writers, and in the end, they created a mixed story based on the ideas. It will be never clear in what kind of world we playing. How we got there? W…59 found this helpful
The option for turning off motion blur is broken. I turned it off in the tutorial, but it returned in the next area. Since then I haven't been able to turn it off again, no matter what I try. It really ruins the game for me, and since I'm not playing it in VR it never did any good for immersion anyway. I was really looking forward to playing it, since it has such interesting character designs and an interesting concept. But I just can't play it, the motion blur makes me motion sick.6 found this helpful
Unknown Fate is a surreal, story-focused first-person adventure that places atmosphere and symbolism at the forefront of its design. Developed by Marslit Games and published by Fulqrum Publishing, the game casts players as Richard, an ordinary man abruptly pulled from his familiar life into a fractured, dreamlike world that feels shaped as much by memory and emotion as by physical reality. From the opening moments, the experience establishes a tone of quiet unease and curiosity, inviting players not just to move forward, but to question where they are, who they are, and whether the world they’re exploring is real at all. The narrative unfolds in a deliberately indirect manner. Rather than relying on extensive dialogue or exposition, Unknown Fate tells its story through environments, objects, and fleeting moments that hint at Richard’s past. Locations feel symbolic rather than literal, often resembling distorted reflections of real-world places filtered through trauma, regret, or forgotten memories. This approach encourages interpretation, asking players to piece together meaning from fragments rather than presenting a clear, linear explanation. The result is a story that feels per…
This game is like that horrible b-movie that you catch a weekday during the afternoon, and that right from the get go, you know its gonna be mediocre, but, for some reason, you force yourself through it... Cursing my curiosity and warning you that you're not gonna get that 3-5h back, its not worth it, its just... bad.
Disclaimer: I cannot provide anything regarding the VR experience. Very easy to 100% without a guide - Also, the game was a little bit of a mess. A unique, interesting, flawed mess. Using a controller for this game is not a great idea. You can certainly complete the game in a 4-5 hour window with one, but yeesh. Clearly its is mapped to mouse and keyboard control. Not so good there. So go KBM! (or VR?) The design of many of the characters and elements are very interesting. I believe this game does achieve creating enough of a unique, well thought out environment to call this game "atmospheric". If you like that sort of thing - Also: platforming, light puzzles, strange broken story, high school theatre voice acting by protagonist - then you could play Unknown Fate. Speaking more on the "strange broken story"... It is a bit confusing, with no real answers or much coherence throughout the plot, potentially even by the the very
"what a twist!"
end. By no means does this mean a no, if again, you are into that sort of thing. I was able to piece together and understand enough of this to enjoy, albeit not entirely satisfied. If this sounds like a review that…
