Great video editing software..
I have no idea why Vegas Pro 18 has lots of negative reviews on Steam. It works perfectly fine for me, allowing me to do everything I need, including utilizing Voukoder's NVENC rendering. It's stable, and the UI is user-friendly enough, unlike Adobe Premiere.7 found this helpful
Vegas was great until DaVinci killed it. Just download the free version of DaVinci Resolve instead. If you need more, the Studio version is a onetime payment. And it's so much better than buying 18 versions of the same program with the same price tag and diferent coloured UI every time.2 found this helpful
I'm very used to Vegas at this point so I didn't want to switch and learn a new editing software from scratch. But would I recommend it to anyone?
Hell no.
Vegas has a few things that should put off anyone from ever purchasing it: It is very clunky. A lot of things that are smooth and easy in most video editing tools either have to be manually done from the get-go or the realisation is so poor it looks terrible in the end. It is notoriously unstable. Especially if you are running AMD's hardware. Crashes are very common. Since video editing is my livelyhood, I had to skip out on a 9070XT build since Vegas 18 doesn't support AMD's AV1 encoding solution. If you have a GPU from the Red team of a newer gen
or heaven forbid an intel arc
prepare to render via CPU only since Vegas hates anything not coming from nVidia.
And this is the most important reason

These developers love to release abandonware.
It's not that the problem is with them releasing a new version every year or so. It's that support for the previous versions dies out pretty much immediately. This version, 18.0, was released On September 3rd, 2020…
good
It works. It's easier than most video software. There are thousands of tutorials on line
