Veil: Mirages

An andante paced introspective piece that investigates 'meaning'. I liked it's commitment to existentialism not being represented as a defeat but as a freedom. There were many tiny bits that truly wittily brought across the author's point and it made me smile. If those tiny things don't make you smile the game may not but for you but it was for-me. The switches between Trinidadian dialect and otherwise was a bit jarring but very appreciated. The music was soothing or unnerving or absent in fairly nice ways. Obviously an early step into existentialism by the author but a strong one. I liked it.

Veil: Mirages is an interesting game but it is a pretty difficult game to absorb the story in some parts especially with the philosophical themes, it feels more like an interactive art piece in my opinion to find meaning. The game also combines 2D and 3D realms with different chapters which thought was cool and the game itself is a walking & dialogue simulator which is not bad but the game is very wordy. This game has a super deep story. It also features a high quality soundtrack. The entire experience forces the player to be emotionally attached, whether to Chase, or to themselves. Personally, it is especially more immersive when played late at night.

Bought the game because I was looking for something similar to Faith The Unholy Trinity. This was an interesting game, I'd be lying to say that its perfect but it was interesting and worth the few bucks I paid for it. It has a very cryptic story, one that you have to piece together on your own but at times it felt too cryptic for me to understand (and I like cryptic storytelling). Some reviews claim that the game is just a "walking simulator" but I don't see how that's much of a critique considering several horror games, including psychological horror games are also "walking simulators," walking is sort of part of the horror and there's more than that in the game. Some things I found very creative were how movie clips were spliced in to explain aspects of the story, that was very nice. Also, having to review and edit the company messages was also a very cool way of giving the player gameplay and explaining the story. Keep making games, keep improving and never stop creating. I dont really like this game it had philosophy and religion politics thrown in for me very poorly. I wont refund it but its one of those Lets all be happy together which isn't how the world is today.
