Velvet’s Veil is a 3D exploration visual novel about a date with Velvet. She is portrayed as a strong and mysterious woman. The story is short, and at times it feels like the length is artificially stretched — for example, by long walks between locations. Adult content only unlocks if you reach a certain Conquest percentage, which depends on making choices that appeal to Velvet. I liked the concept of the game, but the execution leaves something to be desired. There are noticeable flaws that could be polished to make the game look much better. I was honestly a bit shocked by Velvet's Veil. I received this for free on my steam curator page, link below. But I genuinely think its interesting. It is a slow burn and some of the dialogue does feel like it is from a cringy teens journal. But it is interesting and I liked my time with it. Pros: Shocking and thought provoking. Decisions change some things. Velvet is an edge lord and a interesting to discover. Cons: Contains AI voice work so avoid if you don't like that, pretty sure that is a Steam to say AI use now. Writing isn't always the best. Check out my Curator page: Here
4.5/10 Scripted 3D sequence with dialog choices TLDR: Voiced unskippable graphomania with random replies. The nice 3D models and fairly okay animations could have had better use. Barely neutral vote Good: + nice 3D environments and detailed character models + every line here is voice acted. One has to appreciate the effort/cost + pleasant music So-so: +/- okay-ish animations of characters +/- there is certainly an attempt at "psychological depth" in the story here. Maybe it can work on a certain demographic? To me, it was just endless repetition of depressive statements about how bad life is without any concrete details Bad: - all dialogs here are unskippable, and the actress reads the lines way too slowly - no sex scene in the end - at least in my playthru! I had no desire to re-try (and pick different replies) because I'd have to re-listen to much of this stuff again - to the silly/pretentious nonsense this girl is saying, you usually get 3 replies. In almost all cases, I'd pick none! So much for psychological storytelling Adding a "Skip" button (and some keyboard shortcut for it like Tab) would actually save this game. Because then one could at least quickly explore the who…
I сame for b00b`s and s€x, but got a story that really touched me. The game is short – it takes 40 minutes to complete – but it's also very slow-paced, with dialogue that you can't skip, even when you replay it. The gameplay is pretty straightforward: you can pick a line of dialogue and sometimes walk around a bit, switch the lights on and off, or open and close doors. The game is simple, but it's not bad. I recommend buying it while it's on sale.
Please play only in good games My curator page
Achievements are currently bugged, so 100% completion isn’t possible at the moment. The 1.5 hours come from two playthroughs needed to see the different choices and endings. Velvet’s Veil is a short dating simulation(~45min) between you, the nameless player and Velvet. Unfortunately, Velvet’s voice acting lacks emotional range. I don't know if this is intentional due to her character or not. She sounds the same in every situation, regardless of the scene or interaction. There’s no disclaimer suggesting AI involvement, and I don’t want to imply it, but it’s either that or an inexperienced VA. Dialogue can also be skipped during the walking scenes if you don’t select a choice in time, which can lead to one-sided conversations due to event barriers. This makes it unintentionally funny, but also unfortunate, because the entire game is built around the conversations you have with your date. There’s also an affection score that affects the additional scenes, but it doesn’t seem to influence the endings at all. Still, despite its flaws and clunky presentation, I don't regret the spend time. It’s a short narrative experience that manages to give Velvet some character, more than mos…
