Voxel Tanks is a compact arcade shooter developed and published by PigeonDev that demonstrates how a simple concept can remain entertaining when executed with confidence. Built around top-down tank combat and presented through a clean voxel art style, the game wastes little time introducing players to its core objective: survive a succession of increasingly dangerous arenas while eliminating hostile tanks with precision and quick reactions. It embraces a straightforward design philosophy, offering an experience that feels inspired by classic arcade cabinets where gameplay depth comes from challenge rather than complexity. From the outset, Voxel Tanks establishes itself as a skill-driven title. Each arena serves as a test of movement, timing, and situational awareness, requiring players to adapt to enemy patterns and environmental layouts. The Steam description emphasizes dynamic combat, and the game delivers on that promise by maintaining a consistently brisk pace. Battles rarely overstay their welcome, making each victory satisfying and each defeat an invitation to try again. There is a distinct old-school mentality at work here, where memorization and practice gradually transfor…

It's... fine? I guess? There are probably a lot of way better arcade tank games on Steam but if you're a fan of this genre I suppose it's a good way to kill an hour or two for a fair asking price of 3 USD or less. I wouldn't recommend it but it isn't all bad. I did enjoy it, but it's very barebones, and a lot of little things frustrated me. First and most importantly, the game has no controller support so I had to hook up a mouse and keyboard just to play on Steam Deck, and literal tank controls on WASD is awkward as ♥♥♥♥. The music starts from the beginning every time you die or reset and that makes it get annoying fast, especially when you realize that some songs are a lot longer and more interesting than the short levels allow time for. The enemy tank and turrets can see you from WAY off-screen before you even have a chance to fight back, so that feels unfair, but I guess it's evened out by the fact that they're too dumb to figure out how to drive around walls, and often get stuck in places where it's easy for you to just peek a corner and cheese em til they're dead. It's also very frustrating that with only 3 hit points to your name, you can't even tell when you're getting hurt…
A Pleasant Top-Down Tank Game
Voxel Tanks is a top-down shooter where you play as a tank, and face off against enemy tanks with gameplay that reminds me of the tank minigame from Wii Play. You have two weapons, missiles and a machine gun, which will aid you along the way, with the three lives you have each level. The game features 20 levels, including 4 bosses that can prove a small challenge if you aren't careful. Most levels require you to kill all enemies present while some task you with avoiding obstacles and making it to the end. The biggest issue this game has is how enemies fire their projectiles. It's based on the refresh rate of your monitor. The faster your monitor's refresh rate, the faster the enemies fire, which can make for an unpleasant experience with higher refresh rates. The music is pleasant though, making the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Other than that, I recommend this game when it's on sale, especially for those who feel reminiscent of the Wii Play days!

Gameplay seems a bit unfair and for that reason I do not recommend.

It's a totally playable generic tank game with voxel graphics and great 8-bit style music. All the levels are open so you can just beat the bosses to get the achievements if you want. I played through all the levels and only found one of them challenging. If it's an open area the tanks will never hit you if you strafe. Most of the bosses are pretty cool even though they're easy, but the final boss is just a single tiny tank that is a normal enemy. I guess it's supposed to be a joke but it's totally disappointing and almost ruined the game for me. While not terrible I see no reason to ever play it again but for a sub 1 hour game it's not bad.
