Players praise Whip! Whip! as a charming arcade platformer in the vein of classic Taito games like Bubble Bobble, highlighting its simple controls, adorable characters, fun two-player gameplay, and nostalgic appeal. The main complaints center on technical issues—the game crashes when accessing the settings menu and requires Windows 10 fonts to run—along with frustration over the mandatory controller requirement when keyboard alternatives would be appreciated.
Punch and thrust at your enemies to take them out. Game is reminiescent of Bubble Bobble but with different type of gameplay and some easy going story. Pick up snacks and letters along the way for highscore. Good for two players. Graphic is very simple but the main complain here is lack of old school crt filters to make the game feel retro. Music with arcade like tone and sounds are ok. I feel like people who like simple arcade games might feel themselves at home.
20 found this helpful
I never heard of this game until today but good lord this is like something that would have been an actual arcade game back in the day except if it were given a dab of spice. The controls for Whip! Whip! are simple enough, and the game also shows you in the first few levels the basics and what you are expected to do, leaving the rest of the intricacies behind wraps for you to discover on your own. Even though this game says it requires a controller (due to it tying movement to left analog stick), I was able to use a joystick set to PS3/360 left analog stick. Not sure why this game specifically requires an analog stick, but whatever you may be able to use to set something to read as a controller left analog stick you might be able to use something else. The basic concept of the game is to grapple into enemies initiating a kick until you land, and the higher combo you get leading to more rewarding sweets for bonus points and expand balloons aka your ticket to getting extra lives. The game itself isn't long at all and can be finished within an hour or so casually playing through it for the first time, but this game offers a challenge mode after finishing the story which is the re…4 found this helpful
Do you like TAITO games like Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands or Parasol Stars? Just play this game. Do it right now! You're in for a treat.4 found this helpful
R.I.P. Alpha Unit This game was sadly delisted off the Switch Eshop a year after they went bankrupt. Steam is the only way to play it, but it'll crash without Windows 10 fonts. :( The game itself is a very fun single screen elimination platformer, similar to many of Taito's arcade games. The characters are adorable, and the game has this this big food aesthetic. Trust me, this game is worth it. HOWEVER, for some reason, the game crashes when you go to settings, so be wary of that.3 found this helpful
If you like arcade games like Bubble Bobble then you'll love this game! The game play is very similar. You have to defeat all the enemies to move on to the next stage. After every ten stages you fight a boss. Whip! Whip! is two players so two people can join in on the fun. If there is one bad thing I can say about this game, it is accessing the options menu from the title screen shuts down the game and I have no idea why this is.1 found this helpful
