Whisker Wanderlust: The Mosaic of Souls

I really love how colorful and beautiful this game is! Every map feels like a little painting with bright colors and so many cute details. Each level has a new environment to explore, and I enjoyed looking around to find hidden objects and small surprises. The gameplay is relaxing and fun, with exploration, hidden object searching, and simple tasks. I also enjoyed taking my time exploring each map because there are many little details hidden in the artwork. Sometimes I thought I had checked every corner, but I would suddenly discover another hidden item or cute detail I missed before. I recommend this game to cat lovers and players who enjoy colorful artwork, hidden object games, and cozy exploration.

If it was just for the main story mode, I would've probably given the game a positive review, but the hide and seek modus where you have to spot tiny cans in darkness with a flashlight, which only shows the can when you light that spot, killed it for me. On the other hand, the items which you have to spot in story mode are easily spotted if you zoom in a little bit, since they stand out from the rest of the map. Anyway, I don't see myself searching for an absurd amount of tiny cans. Which sadly means I will drop the game at this point since it is just not worth spending so much time under these conditions.

giving this a mixed review: it takes longer to complete than most other hidden object games which made it feel less satisfying, but doesn't that also mean it was actually a better hidden object game?

It's a fairly bare bones hidden object (ghost cat etc etc) puzzle where you must scroll across visually crowded maps loaded with references to pop culture, art history, and just plain fantasy, looking for spectral felines as well as whatever additional object types (three new ones per map) are indicated by flashing characters in the maps. As is typical for these sorts of games, the graphics are basic but serve their purpose well, the music is pretty darned competent (but repeated [i]ad nauseum[/i] during a level), and the gameplay is very enjoyable. For one glaring downside, I should mention that the bonus game mode consists of trying old levels but with cans of cat food by the literal dozens scattered throughout the maps. Now, this sounds like a perfectly acceptable game mode (there are achievements for it and everything, so all you 100% cheevo hounds will be compelled to do it!) if it weren't for the absolutely ridiculous habit of sometimes hiding black textured cans of cat food/tuna/whatever inside black areas of the map.
