Whispering Shadows is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this "art experience". Instead of being a game, Whispering Shadows is a software application that presents a poorly made art exhibition. The developer pretends to be an expert in mental health and pushes a garbage e-book/art experience about suffering from mental health problems. What does this have to do with video games? Nothing. Trying to address serious issues such as mental and emotional health through the medium of video games is misguided and can be harmful. While it's plausible to suggest the intention was noble, this can do more harm than good. The "developer" here is not a professional in areas of mental health and social problems, and when they use video games to pretend they are, this is not only utterly ineffective, it can be harmful. It's my opinion that it's improper to use video games to address mental health issues. Apart from the harm such hamfisted attempts at addressing social problems can cause, this offers zero benefit to PC gamers. started okay. demonstrating how mental illnesses are experienced with voices n such, amazing. then it just turned into partial philosophy and ranting. and having to hold forward the whole time, shouldve just done an auto walk funtion.
I know the game is trying to bring attention to a mental health issue, but as a game, it really needs to engage the player to get the message across. I turned it off after 10 minutes because it was too boring!
I was really hyped to play this game since it looked to interesting with an unique concept, but I got disappointed really quickly since you don't really "play", you just hold down a button. it got boring quickly.
