白猫冒险团 White Cat Adventure Team

Overall a pretty fun game. The encounter rate is like twice as high as it should be but it didn't bother me too much my mental adjusted. The music and art are great. I don't think the compositions are the dev's own which is fine but I wish there were sources in game for where the music comes from since it's excellent. Also the character writing is kinda amazing. I wish there was way more of it but what's there is genuinely interesting to read, even with the scuffed translation. I had a lot of fun and can't wait for more games from the dev.

i have been enjoying this one. the original art is lovely and the story is interesting and engaging. i especially like the character stories. i want to learn more about these characters they are cool. it feels rougher than other recent rpgs but that's something i actually like about it. i like that you have to go to town to buy items and heal and revive. it feels good going from having barely any money for supplies in the beginning to just stockpiling dozens of potions and keys that i might not even need. it also feels good once you get a mix of strong accessories and can make "builds" for your party. the fact that you don't gain exp or levels from combat is weird at first but i think it is nice when it means you don't have to grind for levels and the encounters can be balanced without having to account for leveling. the english translation is a little confusing in some scenes so i would like to see it polished a bit, including some untranslated text like the stone giant area wooden signs. but despite a few flaws i find it's a unique experience that i haven't had the same in other rpgs i've played recently. recommend giving it a try! cost of entry is low so give it a look!

Best 3 dollars I've ever spent. This is an RPG that will feel both familiar and different to avid RPG players. The game starts you off with only 1 character and 3 different areas to explore in any order you choose. Each time you defeat the boss in an area you'll get another party member until you end up with all 4. When your whole team is assembled the game further opens up and you'll be able to once again choose which areas to tackle first and in which order. The game is balanced so that you won't end up facing enemies too strong for you to handle at too early of a point in the game. However, there ARE enemies that will challenge and push you to spend turns efficiently in combat. At first your characters won't be capable of much but as your party learns more skills you'll have so many options in combat that I'm extremely certain that no 2 playthroughs of this game could ever look the same. There's characters who can learn skills that can scale with their Attack stats, their Agility stat, their Max HP stat, or all of the above and skills that increase these stats in combat.
