Wickless: the void

I feel like there's not much story here though and it's not really a game play game either it's like a hidden object game where everything wants to kill you for no rhyme or reason. I was going to try and 100% it but the game started lagging incredibly bad halfway through so hopefully the devs can fix that this isn't a game that should lag.

Developer has recently resorted to upping the price of the game to make its discount appear bigger than it actually is.

Surprised this is practically unknown on steam as it's pretty solid. It's get the main aspects of being a horror game that a lot of steam horror games fall short of. It's oppressive, dingy, and really nails the oppressive atmosphere. And the great sound design really adds to it. It does seem to lose it's way right at the end, noodling away through a few pointless scenes and then bam, [spoiler] you die because why not [/spoiler]. It will take a good 1.5 hours or so to play through it blind, and I enjoyed it all the way until just before the end.

It’s a great choice for players who enjoy atmospheric horror and love a challenge that keeps them on edge.

Wickless is a Russian low effort/amateur made side scrolling adventure/puzzle game (not really a platformer, ignore that misleading marketing). This retro adventure has mild horror/thriller themes as you move through darkened environments and try to stay in the light as you're trapped in your own dark consciousness and need to escape. That's a very pretentious premise for what amounts to 2D pixelcrap shovelware that nobody wanted on Steam Direct. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The amateur pixelcrap visual presentation here at best could have been an attempt to use "retro" as a crutch, a weak excuse to avoid admitting the developer wasn't capable of doing the job of a game developer this decade and creating cutting edge, high quality 3D visuals. While a lack of skill or funding is the explanation for this failure, it's no excuse. The end result of this incompetence is a game that looks dramatically inferior to professionally developed games.
