About Wizards and Warlords

Wizards and Warlords is an indie turn-based strategy game, where you play in a randomly generated fantasy world, filled with rival wizards and warlords. Create a customized sovereign or choose from one of many predefined templates.

Blending 4X with grand strategy and simulation, the game offers a plethora of settings and randomly generated cultures and races. It is up to you if you want to fight great wars, crushing powerful rivals in the pursuit of world conquest - the challenge of survival in a grim and dangerous world, perhaps even beset by planar invaders and ancient evils - or a balanced game, where you control but one of many realms in the world, immersing yourself in an emergent story driven by random events and the interactions of randomly generated cultures and factions.

Manage your cities and fortresses, increase your power through research and industry, design arcane constructs, recruit armies and heroes, explore and exploit dungeons and ruins, and experience random events and event chains. You can mod several aspects of the game and create your own world maps.

✦ AI summary

Players praise this single-developer game for its unique mechanics and engaging systems, particularly the follower management, dungeon exploration, and character appointment features that feel fresh compared to similar games. However, the game's main criticism is that it appears abandoned and unfinished, lacking polish and leaving unrealized potential, with some frustration around micromanagement issues like the aging and fatigue system interrupting tasks.

I enjoyed this game quite a lot for what I paid for it, but in its current state it's both unfinished and abandoned. I suppose it will remain a monument to what might have been, which is a shame because there was a ton of potential that won't be realized now.

Sadly this game has been abandoned. Sad as it just needs a bit of polish and it would of been lovely. Not worth $15 maybe $5 on sale? Yeah pretty decent little game once you get into it. lots to do and going on. minor gripe with the aging system/fatigue stopping tasks from being completed could you implement an option to continue task once rested to reduce micromanagement? I keep missing the fact the task was never done at some times 20-30 turns later and it drives me nuts.

This game is awesome! I know I only have 5 hours but I have engaged with most of the systems and there is one obvious thing. the dev is someone (its a single dev btw) that played these types of games and made something unique and added mechanics that most of us wish were in other games. One of the biggest ones is having unique characters, or followers, who you can appoint to various jobs. There is a dungeon exploration mechanic which has you creating a party out of your followers and based on their skills and stuff they explore, fight and then either retreat, get wounded, die, or win and get loot. You can send your followers as emisaries, general of your armies, scouts, advisor, apprentice, and so much more. You also have workers that you use to build stuff or work at your capital to produce different resrouces, there is a full econ system based on supply and demand, tons of resources. Tons of spells and you research lore, spells and other stuff but not in the traditional sense. Look, get this game if any of that interests you. I want this guy to make a part 2! you will too once you play. I have been playing TBS for 20 years and this might be the most unique game ive p…

I really enjoyed my time with this game. Cool systems and sense of adventure. Amazing result considering a one-man team.
