Fun but difficult precision platformer with very satisfying movement. The extra content and achievements also keep the game fresh and challenging.

Wormatozoa is an unusual precision platformer that turns an intentionally unpleasant subject into a surprisingly creative arcade experience. Developed and published by distributive, the game places players in control of parasitic worms traveling through hazardous environments while gradually transforming from tiny organisms into enormous creatures capable of consuming entire cities. Rather than using a conventional platforming character, Wormatozoa builds its identity around guiding a flexible worm with mouse-based controls. The result is a game that feels familiar in its emphasis on obstacle avoidance and precise movement while remaining distinctive because of the strange creature being controlled and the environments surrounding it. The core challenge revolves around precision, timing, and learning from repeated failure. Practically every dangerous object is lethal on contact, meaning that even a small mistake can immediately end an attempt. "Wormatozoa" is certainly an unusual game, not many games put you into the role of a parasitic worm (except for the politics based games I guess). Unfortunately once the unpleasant veneer is put aside, we get a somewhat shallow Itchio reject that plays like a mobile app... put your finger on your iphone screen to make the worm move between "safe" spots. Collect what you have to collect, avoid the conveyor belts and spikes... you know the deal. It's not really a platformer but I guess it's close to one. The gameplay gets repetitive fairly quickly, it's just not all that fun to actually play once you've had an uncomfortable chuckle at the unpleasant premise. While I couldn't find this on the mobile app stores, everything about it looks and feels like it's a mobile app designed for mobile phones... for PC gaming enthusiasts, it's not going to give you a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps.
