I should have expected what I was getting into when I saw mixed reviews. I was just so hopeful for another Burnout style game, but this was not it. It tries so hard to be Burnout Paradise, to the point it has none of its own identity, and even then, it fails to have anything that made Burnout fun. The cars handle absolutely awful, the amount of times I've completely slid off the road just trying to make a slight turn. The traffic is horrendous, appearing right in front of you at times, and unlike burnout, the slightest touch has you crashing out, there's no such thing as traffic checking. the takedown camera at times, puts you back into the game either right in front of traffic or a tree so you'll crash instantly. I wanted to like this, but if you want a decent Burnout experience, dust off your PS2 and play proper burnout10 found this helpful
This "game" is the epitomize of EVERYTHING I absolutely HATE about modern games: Extremely bland open world, boring user interface, Unreal Engine stuttering, ugly "realistic" graphics with horrendous visuals artifacts no matter the settings (just make it look like a PS2 game it would unironically be better atp). a complete lack of style and unique vision, mishandling a genre once beloved, no fun to be found, gigantic download size for no reason, a crappier version of what's been done better years ago (They cloned things like the license concept, "shutting down" new cars to unlock them, and even the car renderings being the same angle as ones in Burnout Paradise. I don't care this team helped make Burnout, for the love of god pick a better game to rip off! Have you ever heard of being creative or a blender before???), the list goes on and on. Playing this is torture, not because it's the worst game ever, far from it, but because I expected better., and every second I play this I wonder to the gods of racing "when did we deserve such a terrible punishment?" Three fields entertainment is damn good at disappointing people and I'm sick and tired of being let down. Pass the torch to …7 found this helpful
Unfortunately the racing is just not fun. There are quite a few things I don't like about this game but the AI is the biggest dealbreaker for me. The AI rubberbands, which might be expected in an arcade racer like this, but holy moly it is extremely overtuned. The AI can and will drive at literally any speed it wants to, and they do not hide it. This completely destroys the illusion of difficulty and, at least for me, makes the racing completely unenjoyable. Why would coming in first mean anything to me when I see the AI overtake me at mach 2 and then let me pass easily like 20 seconds later? This makes it easy for me to not recommend this game, not at full price, not at any sale price.4 found this helpful
INTRO
We are not allowed to have another Burnout in this world. How about going on a Wreckreation though?
THE GOOD, NOT SO GOOD AND THE BAD
+ Very nice collection of fictional cars (properly designed and not generic looking) + Technically a fully open map with no boundaries (aside from rocky, mountain sections) + Pletheora of soundtrack choices (mostly library songs though, nothing mainstream) + Very good sense of speed + You can teleport between parking lots if you don't want to drive + Map can be modified with live objects (they have to be unlocked though by finding random pieces on the map or unlocking them by leveling up) ? Requires manual Input.ini modification for full key rebinding (many functions cannot be changed inside the game, including a forced WASD setup for driving) ? Generally performs nice (RTX 3060 12 GB), but some microstutters are still present ? Has potential unpatched memory leaks (I experienced two in a quick succession early on, then nothing after that) ? No idea about the multiplayer since it's completely empty - Unpredictable suspension and crash physics (with Goat Simulator levels of randomness during Road Rage) - Game world is the o…3 found this helpful
I've played every Burnout title ever made (including the spiritual successors "Dangerous Driving" et. al) and Wreckreation feels most like the Burnout I love (and miss). The devs, TFE, did a great job of putting the polish to this game and they've kept updating it without any guaranteed income. If you love arcade racers, definitely give this one a spin.1 found this helpful
