About Yukiusa

Control the snow rabbit "Yuki-Usa" to reach the top of the stage!

Cute ornaments will appear on the stage as Yuki-Usa bounces around.
Let's proceed while decorating the stage!

The snow bunnies bounce around so much that you may fall off the stage.
But that's no problem!
This game has a respawn function.
Don't give up and aim for the top!

Yukiusa is a free-to-play mountain climbing game, which most likely has been heavily inspired by Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. So the player has to climb the mountain by mastering the challenging controls. When reaching the top, the completion time is displayed. The player controls a yuki usagi (a rabbit made of snow, green leaves and red berries), and I simply love the cute winter-themed art style in this game, with the relaxing soundtrack! :) The controls work as following: You can move left/right, and jump. Each time you land, you can continue with a large jump, and these can be chained infinitely. The challenge is that your snow rabbit rotates during movement, and you need to control the rabbit's orientation, and quickly react if things don't work as intended. Just like in Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, you gradually improve the more you play. It's tempting to give up after trying the game, and at the beginning it takes some dedication to keep playing. But the more you improve, the more fun the game becomes. :) One thing I like about this game is the way it handles checkpoints and lifes: As you progress, you gain more lifes, which can be used to res…

It is simply unplayable, controls are kind of random, so you mostly bound on and of. I have no idea oh it was controls were implemented in Unity, but very very poorly.

Yukiusa is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer has a cutesy snow rabbit theme as you bounce around various gimmicky platforms, but ultimately offers nothing that any of the thousands of other platformers on Steam don't do better. Nothing to see here, move along. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often n…

This game is difficult, and I can't quite tell if I'm supposed to need to rapidly right-click in order to jump, or if the intention is to only click once and it is malfunctioning in some way. Regardless, it's cute, entertaining, and I like it.

A very nice game. The appearance is adorable and the atmosphere feels great.

Game has potential but is frustrating. Seems to be a 'over it' like game and had a pleasant game style. But I quickly gave up with the frustrating stiff controls and closed the game. + Nice style --- Stiff controls
