Yukie: A Japanese Winter Fairy Tale

[i]"The story will proceed in a movie-like fashion."[/i] Well nope. As much as I wanted to play this unique-looking game it quickly went from "unpolished" to downright unplayable. First and foremost this game does have gameplay (as in you do move and fight) and that's where it went wrong for me. It crashed, it lagged, it froze which ruined the atmosphere and just made the whole experience not worth it.

Boring, tedious game that tries to be deep. It has shallow characters and there's barely a story. Buy it if you like holding the arrow key down for fifteen minutes at a time listening to pointless exposition and tapping the z key when you hear a sound (which is this game's version of combat.) OH and if you mess up a fight, enjoy holding the arrow key down for fifteen more minutes, listening to the same repeated pointless exposition so you can retry it.

A neat little storytelling experience held back by clunky controls and low rez art. Gameplay elements of “moving forward”, fight or flight choices, and there is a bit of timing with sword swings. Problem is, they are so low effort that it detract from the overall experience. The voice-over was nice. This would make a good visual novel with the gamey bits stripped out.

neat little game, i kind of didn't understand half of what it was talking about but i enjoyed it. once you get the 4th or 5th sword the game kind of plays itself by the end. there's a few times where it doesn't tell you how to progress so you can get stuck in a battle for like 10 minutes before you realize you're supposed to flee. there's also a few fights where you can skip combat entirely by just talking until they leave. oh also the estimated time at the beginning of each chapter is wrong you can usually do chapters like 5 minutes faster than what it says
