About Zero To Hero Idle
Zero to Hero: Pixel Idle RPGA Father's Promise, A Son's QuestI'm not a professional programmer. I'm a dad.One day, my 8-year-old son came to me with a challenge: “Dad, can you make a game for me? One where I can find cool swords and fight monsters forever?”I didn't know how to write a single line of code. But I couldn't say no.Zero to Hero is the result of that promise. It is a love letter to the incremental and idle RPGs we played together. It wasn't built by a studio with a budget; it was built late at night, learning loop by loop, mistake by mistake, fueled by coffee and a child's imagination. What started as a simple project for one boy has grown into a full-fledged idle adventure that I'm proud to share with you.About The GameZero to Hero is a classic idle RPG stripped down to its most addictive elements: Loot, Progression, and big numbers. You begin as a lowly Squire, armed with nothing but a rusty sword and a dream. Your goal? To ascend the ranks, become a Knight, and eventually claim the throne as King.Key FeaturesBuild Your Kingdom: Upgrade your Keep to boost your stats, automate clicks, and improve drop rates. The Forge: Don't like your drop? Melt it down! Upgrade your equipment slots to permanently boost every item you equip. Dynamic Soundtrack: Features an adaptive original soundtrack that shifts from cozy village vibes to epic orchestral battles as you progress. No Pay-to-Win: This game was made for my son, not shareholders. There are no predatory microtransactions. Just pure, unadulterated progression. Whether you have 5 minutes or 5 hours, there's always a new upgrade to buy, a new boss to slay, or a new tier of gear to unlock.Start your journey. From Zero... to Hero.
- True Idle Progression: Your hero fights automatically, gathering Gold, XP, and Materials even while you're away.
- Deep Loot System: Hunt for Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, and Celestial gear. Every item has randomized stats—find the perfect roll!
- Strategic Prestige Layers:
- Prestige: Reset your level to gain Prestige Points and permanent stat multipliers.
- Become A Knight: A deeper reset that unlocks the Village, Skill Trees, and advanced mechanics.
- Coronation: The ultimate ascension. Become King to unlock universe-bending multipliers.

Pretty sweet auto battler game. The progression is very nice and not as slow as some of the others I have tried. I like tihs one very much. Would have loved it if you were able to pick your starting avatar and gender though1 found this helpful
The game ends up feeling fairly confusing. I’ve played plenty of idle games that offer a smooth experience, but this one doesn’t provide enough guidance to make its systems easy to understand. Only the most basic mechanics are explained, and after putting in 86 hours, the overall effort becomes tiring rather than rewarding. Looking for help outside the game isn’t ideal either. Steam discussions can feel unwelcoming, especially with deleted threads, and joining Discord doesn’t appeal to everyone. Important information really needs to be available directly in game. Even after prestiging several times, collecting all pets, and upgrading everything possible, progression still feels unclear. The equipment screen never expands beyond the main hand and chest slots, and additional gear slots simply never unlock. There’s also a persistent audio issue. Setting the volume to zero doesn’t mute the game on launch, even though the menu shows it at zero. Sound effects still play until the volume is toggled on and off again, which has to be repeated every time the game starts.
The developer has zero respect for your time and expects you to grind for 100s of hours to complete the game's content. I told them what they needed to do to change their path, but they'd rather ban me than fix their predatory game practices. Find a different game and move on. This developer doesn't want to change and feels they know best. Met lots of these types over the years, and they never change. Game is worthwhile to pay for 25 hours if you want to experience it though, but don't expect to 100% the game, unless you like to grind for 250+ hours to get some achievements. I really hate predatory developers like this one and will call them out for their BS when they refuse to change. So, play it for your 25 hours, and then move on. They don't want to listen to your feedback. --- EDIT: For those wondering on the context of the developer's response: A) I had hostility in one thread only, which was only after multiple days of them ignoring constructive feedback. B) They deleted every single thread on their forum, that I posted in. They had a tantrum and censored everything I did that was positive for the forum, to make it seem like I was a malcontent with a grudge. C) I…

Neat balance between active play and automation. Early on, active play (clicking, upgrades, equipment management). Personally, went for an early long run to unlock equipment slots, better gear, collect pets and permanent upgrades. Then hit XP soft cap wall preventing final boss encounter early on. With the permanent upgrades from the long run, then entered a cycle of rapid resets to level up squire / knight / king levels which gradually unlock more and more automation. King 3 is a key automation milestone after which the game becomes almost entirely auto-battler without much player input aside from upgrading gear once in a while until King 4. Then get to watch gear gradually get stronger and stronger until all achievements completed. Overall, really enjoyed the game and will likely replay it again in the future.
