Players are sharply divided on Zombolion. Some appreciate the fast-paced arcade-style zombie horde defense gameplay with base-building elements and the relentless combat pressure it delivers. Others criticize it as a low-effort asset flip using generic GameMaker assets, accusing the developer of repeatedly publishing rushed, unoriginal cash-grab titles across multiple accounts without meaningful innovation or quality control.
Zombolion is yet another of literally hundreds of lazy amateur 2D retro top-down shooter/brawlers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one is a godawful asset flip/kitbash from the Russian asset flippers at SP Games... they took a bunch of basic GameMaker Studio pixelcrap sprites and a basic GameMaker Studio top down shooter game blueprint, and rushed it onto Steam Direct to try scrounge a few more roubles out of gamers. SP games have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Zombolion is a fast-paced top-down survival shooter that blends arcade combat, zombie horde defense, and base-building mechanics into a chaotic apocalypse experience focused entirely on survival against impossible odds. The game places players in the role of a sheriff protecting a hidden underground bunker after civilization has been consumed by a deadly outbreak. Rather than emphasizing cinematic storytelling or deep narrative systems, the game concentrates on nonstop combat, defensive preparation, and the constant pressure of holding back increasingly dangerous waves of undead enemies. The gameplay immediately throws players into action with little downtime. Zombies attack relentlessly from every direction, forcing constant movement and aggressive shooting from the very beginning.
