About Wildgate

✦ AI summary

Wildgate is a PvPvE multiplayer space shooter where you and your crew pilot a customizable ship across a procedurally-generated map, competing in modes like Artifact Brawl and Treasure Hunt while managing resources and battling both rival players and environmental hazards. What sets it apart is the dynamic ship-sabotage gameplay where you can trap enemies, tinker with their vessels, and switch between piloting and boarding tactics as your situation demands.

Wildgate is a PvPvE multiplayer shooter that blends tactical ship-to-ship combat with fast-paced first-person action. Evade deadly environmental hazards, search for powerful weapons and ship upgrades, and be the first crew to escape with the Artifact... or the last crew left flying.

✦ AI summary

Wildgate is a dead game with a nearly non-existent playerbase that former players agree had genuine potential and offered compelling PVP gameplay, but the community and developers are divided on what killed it—some blame the premium pricing model and poor balance changes at launch, while others argue the constant negativity from players themselves discouraged newcomers. Most reviewers recommend saving your money due to the lack of active population making the game unplayable.

On release, Wildgate had a great deal of potential, but it is hard to underestimate just how badly this game has been managed. Dreamhaven has been woefully unable to understand the new player experience, unwilling to respond to feedback, and outright lazy in the management of this game. Credit to the Moonshot designers and coders who put this together, but as of writing, inexplicably incompetent community management (coupled with poor marketing strategy) has led to the death of a game that should have had huge potential. As of writing I cannot recommend buying Wildgate, as the player base has become so small that games are impossible to find outside of the Discord community; but within the community you have cheaters, abusive people, and rule-breakers who simply cannot be dealt with at risk of people being unable to find a match at all. If you already own Wildgate, there may be some hours to still extract, but if you're considering buying it then I'd suggest to look elsewhere and certainly outside of Dreamhaven products. My hours should make it clear how hard I've tried to stick with this game, but it just can't be defended any more.

Really fun game, shame it's dead.

This was an amazing game and I don't think the devs did anything wrong. No clue why it didn't take off.
