About Cthulhu's Reach: Devil Reef
The year is 1923. You Owe a Gangster More Than You Can Pay
A tip-off points you toward the cursed seaside town of Innsmouth — and the sunken labyrinth known as Devil Reef. Treasure lies in its depths. So do things that have never been seen by sane eyes. With your crew of desperate fortune-hunters at your side, you descend. Whether you return, and whether you remain yourself if you do, is a different matter entirely.
Descend with Friends. Lose Your Minds Together
Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef is built for 1 to 4 players. The horror is survivable alone. With a crew, it becomes an experience — the moments when a friend’s sanity breaks, when the dungeon shifts, when a run that seemed impossible suddenly clicks. Online co-op with full dungeon scaling ensures that whether you play solo or with three companions, every descent is a fresh reckoning.
Sanity Is the Price of Power
Every upgrade you claim in Devil Reef costs you something. Common relics, legendary weapons, eldritch incantations — each one brings you closer to forbidden knowledge and erodes your character’s grip on reality. The more powerful you become, the more unstable your mind. This turns every pickup into a genuine decision. Do you reach for the eldritch artefact that could turn the run, knowing what it will take from you? Or do you hold on to what remains of your sanity and fight with what you have? The tension between power and stability runs through every moment of every descent — and it is entirely, uncomfortably yours to resolve.

No Two Descents Are the Same
Procedurally generated labyrinths mean Devil Reef never plays the same way twice. Each run is shaped by over 64 collectible items across three rarity tiers, a deep weapon unlock and upgrade system, and enemy encounters built around status effects — bleeding, burning, slowed, panicked. Three acts of escalating horror await in the full release, alongside a Daily Challenge mode with a globally seeded dungeon so you can compete against every other delver in the world.
The Reef Is Still Growing.
Devil Reef is in Early Access with the full release planned in the coming months. Act 1 is playable in its entirety. Acts 2 and 3, a custom map editor, and additional content are in active development. Our positive review score from our current community reflects a game that is already compelling — and still becoming what it was meant to be. Your purchase directly supports the development of the complete vision.

Not a bad game per se, but after 2 hours I got bored of the extremely repetitive runs, sudden 15 monster spawn gangbang and uninteresting meta progression. Aiming using the Deck sticks didn't feel comfortable for me.4 found this helpful
(Friend Gifted This to me) I’ve got about 12 hours in Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef, and I went into it knowing basically nothing. My first few games were multiplayer runs where I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. It didn’t take long to figure things out, though. Once it clicked, I found myself coming back for “just one more run” more often than I probably should have. The easiest way I can describe this game is a strange little cocktail of Binding of Isaac, Cult of the Lamb, and the arcade-era Gauntlet, with a Lovecraftian coat of paint thrown over the top. With fewer power ups. Gameplay: 9/10 The gameplay feels smooth, responsive, and easy to pick up without feeling completely brainless. I never really felt like I was fighting the controls, which is something I appreciate in a roguelike. My biggest gripe was the hitboxes. There were definitely a few moments where I was convinced the game had personally decided that my character's toes needed to die. I eventually adapted by embracing the ancient strategy of “evade everything and spray bullets until everything stops moving.” The camera shake may bother some people, but I genuinely didn't notice it until my second or third…1 found this helpful
Full video review 📺 https://youtu.be/x08k4breOOk Cthulhu’s Reach: Devil Reef has a fun twin-stick shooter foundation, but the real challenge comes from everything happening around the shooting. Enemy patterns, room hazards, loot choices, upgrades, and limited resources all affect how you approach a run. I definitely had to change how I played, and seeing that progression made the dungeon crawling a lot more engaging.1 found this helpful

SPOILERS**** The core idea is fun and to some degree is executed well however there are many things that hold this rogue-like back: such as arenas being repetitive after some time, weird bugs and enemies sometimes hanging or not responding. I managed to finish the game in around 9-10 runs and felt a bit disappointed by the ending and final boss especially. You have someone like Dagon and you fight him while he is holding a stone, might as well could have had him holding his ♥♥♥♥ and you shoot at him, sucks as i was really exciting to face him off. Also once you finish the game once there is no incentive to go back for another run as its just more of the same in a bad way, they could have added some more steam achievements at least or in-game achievements that unlock some perks or weapons. Hopefully this game becomes better as more time is dedicated to it as the setting, combat and rogue like aspects of it make it fun.
Lovely artstyle with a cool roguelite touch to a lovecraftian horror. I played it single player and had lots of fun trying to master the levels!
