Cthulhu Must Die

Okay, I had some fun with this! Pros : Crazy cheap price. Good art direction and design. Game-play is fun, but a little strange - got used to it quick. Interface and UI are pretty good. Cons : Okay music, good track but gets boring. Some graphics seem oddly stretched. Very limited gameplay. Solid 3.3/5 rating for me, considering the cheap price. Verdict : For 20-30 minutes of fun, this is a good time. To the dev : Good job! I think theres alot more to come from you, you have the talent. Just keep making more games.

Cthulhu Must Die is a fun (if small as of this writing,) top-down shooter with a lot of gameplay beats that fans of Vampire Survivors would be familiar with. What sets the game apart is that the location of the final boss is always randomly determined and must be tracked down by either finding clues to see if a location does or does not contain Cthulhu or checking the locations personally. Even if a player encounters Cthulhu early into a run they may still not have enough upgrades to defeat him, and the time limit is generous enough that I never felt like tracking down Cthulhu late into a run was unfair. I enjoyed the game when I played it during Steam Nextfest, and while I was disappointing that it was not fleshed out more since then the premise has a lot of potential I have high hopes that with enough feedback the creator will be able to improve the game far in excess of its very modest $2 price tag.

Charming game but seems to have some glitch & performance issues. Just lost a run after the map wouldn't go away. Performance issues in the sense of a lot of stuttering, even when not taking damage. Pausing the game also weirdly takes a while to unpause. Since there are only 3 reviews I'll give a thumbs up, but hopefully a patch can fix some of these problems
